I got a great looking Prismatic bow as a reward in a quest, and I have now gone several levels higher than it is.I am wondering if I can improve it higher than it's purple standing.Any thoughts on if it can be improved?

I don't see any reason why it cannot be improved. However, if you can get a Glyph made from the runes in IC you can make a new Prismatic Weapon if I am not mistaken.

You cant make it a higher level. Ie you cant take a level 45 weapon and improve it to vet 1+.
I wish we could, it would be nice to keep weapons you find that you like the stats on and upgrade them.

Well,I didnt know it couldnt be improved when I finished the quests. I got it at level 41 and am now level 45.It still does some nice damage though.I guess its kinda late to rethink when to do the quest that drops it. If I wait to finish the quest until I am a vet next time,it will be at least higher.

I wish there was a way to just level up gear. I've never understood the thinking behind gear having levels to begin with for a lot of reasons. It is like saying that I can drive a VW Rabbit because I'm a level 10 driver, but I can't drive a BMW 325i because I'm not a level 20 driver. Its like saying I can cook using a gas stove because I'm a level 15 chef, but I can't cook with a Trivection oven because I'm not level 25 yet. Its like saying I can sleep on a cot or a sleeping bag because I'm level 10, and I'll have to level up 40 more levels before I can use a bed.

A sword is a sword. The materials make a difference, the weighting and balance makes a difference, but this should not change the skills of the user. Given a brief familiarization period with the weapon, I don't see why going from a Bronze sword to an iron to a steel sword really makes a difference. Why should a staff with no ornamentation or simple woodcarvings be less deadly than the one with a bunch of jingly gold encrused crap hanging off of it? Even with a bow, there's a pull weight naturally, but beyond that there really isn't much more to say.

In other words quality matters but it has nothing to do with the capacity to use something. I might buy into the way gear/skills work in games a little better if we were talking about piloting a single engine vs. multi-prop or jet engine aircraft. I might buy into it if we were looking at the difference between being a medic, a general practitioner, and a specialist. Using a jade knife or flint knife or obsidian knife or a bronze knife or a steel knife or a ceramic knife? I don't get the difference.

Back to point, it would be nice if we could level gear up or if gear weren't even level related. Then again in my view gear should be disposable, like in SWG.

ZOS could make so only master crafters can upgrade the levels on items.

Yeah! Rather than directly though (so everyone needs a crafter because of acc-bound), perhaps they instead make a 'kit' that is consumed on a piece.

At ONE point it was capped at VR12. I turned in my quest at VR14 and received a VR12 weapon. It might have been changed with IC and Orsinium.

This is good advice - if you can wait that long.

    I got a Prismatic Blade, level 45.

It was trash before I reached VR1.

If you already have it then don't bother wasting 8 tempers on upgrading it, because you won't keep it for long :(

Can you not just finish the fighters guild quest at normal level and go back in the future and craft an upgraded one later on if you have the crafting level to do it? I thought access to the forge remained open at the end of the quest, but may be remembering wrong. Or does the forge create something alternative to prismatic weapons?

Creating the bow is part of the quest when you do it.When it is done, you get the bow.If you dont do the quest until much later I dont know how that will work, because I think it is part of the fighters guild line. I may be wrong, but i'ts like part of the line progression.

The bolded bit is totally correct......... well you can make a Truly Superb Glyph of Prismatic Onslaught which is basically the VR16 version of the enchant on the Fighter's Guild quest reward........

Of course the glyph can be made for any level, the one I mention is just the VR16 one :)

I wish I had the mats to make what I would need to make the bow top end.I just am not a good enough player to survive IC.lol!
