Am I being paranoid?

I restarted a new cadre of characters last night and, right there in the Prison I kept getting group requests!

I declined them for two reasons: 1) Why would you group in a place you're only going to be for maybe 20 minutes tops if you collect everything before you go -and- 2) I have had such horrid experiences with groups in ESO that I pretty much don't even put on my headphone/mic anymore and just play solo unless I need to do a dungeon.

I just have a feeling that it's a scam somehow.

BTW: Good to be back - even joined a new guild on the EU so I have a new place to deposit mats, extra cash and items I'll never use. Thank you whoever invited me! I love to do those deposits. Makes me feel needed.

How can they scam you by inviting you to a group? I think either your character name is interesting (female name?), or people just want to interact with others, some of them might be new players and want to learn and progress with other new players. You are being paranoid.

It's not paranoia if they're really out to get you.....

    Yes.

Some folks, when starting alts, know that about the xp bonus for being grouped. Classic powerleveling is what you are running from out of paranoia...

Sometimes, the people in groups are really cool. Over time, one can make good friends out of them. I made several very good friends that way -- random grinding groups. Now we do dungeons and Cyrodiil (PVE) with each other.

I think this is the main reason why people invite you to the group, you get 10% extra xp bonus when you are in a 2 men group. Some people just group to do the same quests and disband the group when it's done, it's better than solo.

I never knew that I thought that only applied if your character was married to that person.

seriously though Lyris isn't enough for some people?

I often get invited to group when I'm questing, it's usually fun and gets a bit more xp, sometimes get asked after the quest whether I'd like to carry on and do a dolmen or WB, sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. (Sorry to whomever invited me yesterday in Kragenmoor and I disappeared without responding, I was having connection problems).

Not entirely sure what the OP thinks may happen that could involve him/her being scammed, I don't even see how that would be possible.

K, Cobain. They didn't get him. He did.

Actually, some of those cuddly-groupies might just be new and come from games where you always group up, regardless...

...because extra XP, or highly hostile environment, or...

...they're completely cluesless and, as you seem to know what to do, they're looking for you as a leader type.

...though... ...they might also be leechers >:)

I think you may be right, at least about the lechers part. They seem to want to group with my busty Dunmer and Altmer but leave my musclebound orc alone. hmmm....
