Finished Cadwell's Gold and VR12...now what?

I know this has been asked a TON of times but before you flame me know that:
  1. Almost all those posts are older
  2. Almost all say to go grind
  3. Almost all say to PVP
I am a quester. I love the story and the quest. I'm not really into PVP and hate grinding for the sake of leveling. I started Craglorn and while I can solo many of the big groups, much of the quests require groups. I tried the find group tool and not one match. I just started back up after a bunch of months off so is there any solo friendly content past Cadwell's Gold? Is there a way to close the gap between VR12 and VR16 without grinding or PVP? I've knocked out all the location stuff in all the zones.

There are quests in Cyrodiil that can be repeated daily. There are several towns across the map that have quite a few quests which are pretty fun the first time through. And they're worth a good amount of XP.

People also say grouping in Craglorn is what to do. Personally, I am going to see what Orsinium has to offer for leveling. The problem with Craglorn is that, if you do not have a group, it is not good for leveling because every mob in sight comes to the assistance of the first mob you attack.

    1. Join a guild of your faction where a lot of people go questing (just ask in-zone), and go questing in Craglorn.
    2. Cyrodiil questing and delves are possible solo, if you can find a "safe" campaign (to reduce the number of times you are killed by enemy players)
    3. Try to complete all the vet dungeons - and daily pledges, if you can find a good group (which makes it a lot easier). Dragonstar Arena has very good XP in normal mode if you have a decent group of 4 people.
    4. Go back to the vet zones and complete all the incomplete quests, world bosses, delves, and dolmens etc. It's actually hard to finish them all without going over vr14.
    5. Orsinium will have a LOT of solo-friendly content... "Soon" (TM)
    6. imperial City Sewers are quite fun to go in solo, as long as you don't mind being ganked occasionally (and learn to avoid the roving Flag banner bosses). Upper City quests require groups for most of the sectors, although you can explore and grab skyshards solo, if careful.

It is surprisingly easy to do so before vr 8 or vr 9... Really depends on your play style. Sneak thieves get screwed royally in regards to exp. Quests do not give enough if you are trying to quest finish quests with as few as possible kills.

Maybe the thieves guild will have something to reward this kind of play style but right now if you sneak past all the experience walking around you do indeed gimp yourself. Personally I was able to drag Caldwell silver/gold well into vr14 but I scoured and did each delve three times.

Orsinium's exactly what you're looking for. It'll be out on PC November 2nd, and consoles later in the month. Solo-quest zone which should help you continue leveling without any PvP or grouping.

Until then, or otherwise, there are quests in Cyrodiil and Imperial City from what I hear that don't require any PvP, but you'll always be in the threat of enemy players, so it's up to you if you want to take the risk.

I didn't realize there were so many little quests around. Of course, the first dungeon I went in I got ganked by a vr16 that stun locked me to death. I am close to 2/3 through VR12. This will probably get me about 2/3 through VR13.

Thanks everyone else for the good tips. I really think that Orsinium is what I am waiting for.

As others here have said, go to Craglorn and see how good you are at soloing the place.

Cyrodiil is also good to run quests in at present and dodging the occasional zerg or battle area adds a nice twist to PvE in that space.

    A couple of things to look at doing;

    - Getting some achievements on the board to unlock some dyes
    - Gather mats in Craglorn for re-sale
    - Try your hand at crafting
    - See if you can hit every POI in the game
    - Have a looksee at IC and the sewers
Oh so you play on a console? Well this is a console game after-all I suppose.

Actually, with the reduction in vet ranks from 1,000,000 XP to 750,000 XP, if you do all of the PVE stuff in Cyrodiil (so all the quests, delves, and dolmens), I'd be shocked if you didn't get to VR15, and if you did the Imperial City PVE stuff as well, or repeated the Cyrodiil dailies, you should be able to get to VR16 no problem.

But I agree with your assessment that Orsinium is what you're waiting for. Go ahead and do a bunch of the Cyrodiil PVE stuff while you're waiting, but I do think that Orsinium is the best place for you to be playing.

Install the addon Destinations, go back through the maps zone by zone and complete all the quests you have missed,

I do every quest in the game and ding V16 halfway through Reapers March (last quest area for EP) and have done for the last three characters i have got to V16

There is also plenty of quests in Cyrodiil and Craglorn to do

I've got that addon. This particular toon was my first and I started with it day 1. There were a ton of broken quests, roadblocks, and bugs so I did skip over a number of quest chains in the beginning. Unfortunately I was VR6 or 7 before they made the XP changes and I have since knocked out a ton of the stuff I missed in the early days. Toons that I have started recently are much further along then mine was way back when.

I've even crafted myself a rad set of exploration armor that I switch in and out of to squeeze every extra bit of XP out of an area. Each zone seemed to be giving me about 1.5 levels worth of XP. Is Cyrodiil about the same? It does seem to contain more POI than regular zones.

I hate grinding, so when I reached the end of Cadwells, I usually do three things - explore craglorn for the exploration XP, revisit cadwells to do all the dolmen/world bosses I might have skipped, and then spend a lot of time in cyrodil, doing the repeatable town missions and clearing the dwelves. Those will easily take you to V16 in short order even without grinding (though latter certainly would be faster... its mindnumblingly no fun, while the daily missions are nice enough)
And Orsinium is coming... soon... so, fu... uhm... forget grinding altogether! ;)

Finish up Cyrodiil delves and dolmens (Be ware of delves, bosses don't spawn some times) and do a few dailies.
Or Zerg IC for a little exp.
The IC main questline also gives half a vet rank (roughly).

I did all this and am only VR14 though sadly. Waiting for Orsinium to fix the game :<

In that case get hold of some XP pots and hit Cyrodiil, the xp there is very good for quests and 50% extra from the pots will ding you in next to no time, If you do come across unwanted pvp switch to a different campaign and continue your questing

This is so true and nicely put. Grinding kills my will to play the game as well. I didn't realize that Nov 2nd is so close. I guess this post will be irrelevant once Orsinium is released.

For all of you that responded, thank you. But many of you didn't even read the content of my first post.

My question was what to do after VR12 that did NOT include:
    grinding
    PVP
    Grouping in Craglorn

Some people see questing as grinding. It is but there is at least a reason to grind out the quests. Grinding for the sake of grinding/leveling kills my will to play any game.

The second I entered the first delve in Cyrodiil I got ganked by someone that was way higher than I was. PVP just annoys me to death. All I wanted to do is get my skyshard and credit for killing the objective and move on. Instead, I get ganked and spend 10 minutes in different load screens and moving on to something else only to have to come back to where I started. Just annoying.

Does anyone use the find group tool in the game? My entire time in Craglorn I had it turned on and found no one. My first quest was to get infusion of fire, ice, storm and meet someone to open a portal. I spent about 40 minutes killing all the guys to get to the guys that I needed to kill to get the different infusions only to find out that a 4 person group is required to do this quest. I thought it was a bug because the person I was supposed to talk to wasn't where they were supposed to be. So I looked it up and that's when I found out it required 4 people to complete. Another waste of time.

My playtime is sporadic. I have like 20 minutes here or there to play. Sometimes an hour sometimes more or less and I constantly have RL distractions where I have to take a break at a moment notice. I'm a horrible group mate and I try not to subject others to that.

Pledges are an amazing way to level up though. Esp if you run them with someone who is 1-3 ranks above you.
