Character Load Times

These damn loading screens, amirite?

I've noticed that some of my characters take longer to load than others. I've recorded a comparison (which I will link below) where I removed all addons logged in to the same spot on every character.

I am not after a solution, but I am after more information as to the cause of this bottleneck. One of my v16 characters takes 3 times as long to load than my level 3 character. All the load times were within 3 seconds for the same character so it is safe to assume the cause isn't local. Here are some of the possibilities I have eliminated:

- Addons: I removed all addons during the testing. Afterwards I put them back and noticed an increase by 10s in load times.
- Number of Items: My level 3 character is holding the second most items but has the lowest load times.
- Assigned Skill Points: After initial testing, I reset all skill points on Afelia (the worst offender) and gained consistent 8s improved load times (but still not enough).
- Assigned Champion Points: I also reset the champion points on Afelia after the 8s improvement, but the champion points reset made no further difference.

Something has to be causing one character to become 3x more complex than another but I am at a loss as to what that might be.

Thanks for sharing, this is interesting.
It's also significant that, the higher the rank/level, the longer it takes to load. And even longer with more items in the inventory.
I hope your research will help to fix this issue
