Orsinium Re-spec?

ZOS, will there be a forced re-spec with Orsinium? I'd like to know in advance, thank you.

No. They mentioned because of the moaning last time they won't do respecs for us again.

No there will not for 2 reasons:

1. They are trying to avoid doing that anymore due to all the negative feedback from people that don't bother to visit the forums or in any way get any sort of heads up (aside from the announcement on server selection which people should also pay attention to because that did mention the reskill for IC).

2. Orsinium is not changing up skills like IC did, therefore there is no reason to hand out reskills.

You'd figure they would know how to code in a whole "Hey we just re-did a ton of skills and passives, so we're offering a free one-time respec at each shrine."

Hah, that was the first thing that crossed my mind when they said it on ESO live. I think people were pretty harsh considering the amount of changes that went into the skills and mundus stones.

Since Orsinium content is "balanced" for those with 3-400 CP and the average player has around 90, and you need certain builds to be able to get past the first main quest boss, they definately SHOULD offer a free total respec this time.

You know what the real issue is? ZOS didn't read your signature. Specifically the part that says "OPTIONS are a Good thing". If the respec hadn't been forced, and instead had been a one-time option that you could choose to use or not use, then nobody would have complained. For that matter, the thing that they did that one time about a year ago when they didn't do a forced respec, and instead made respecs ridiculously cheap for a short period of time was also a good way of doing it. It's the failure to give people options that's the problem.

In my opinion (and opinions just above my post), the best way to solve this issue is to give each character a choice of whether they want to respec (or not respec) upon logging in after a major content update.

After the IC patch we found out later via the forums (after ZOS's announcement Wrothgar would not include a respec) that the players who did not want to respec were in a vocal minority ...

Quoted for truth. When a patch comes with significant changes, forcing everyone to respec is a bad way to do it. Not letting people respec without paying through the nose is also a bad way to do it.

The right way to do it is to give people the option.

Back in the old days I remember them giving us a really low - think it was 100 gold - flat cost for respecs at the shrine when they changed all the skills in a major update. For a week. It's too bad they don't do that now. That would be appropriate. But I think too many people complained about being out of town and missing it.

Complainers have always ruined free (or almost free) things for everyone.

Yeah, options are straight up the best way to handle things.

Then again, look at the majority of the decision-making process that happens at the dev offices...

There will be a Respec for Champion points though for those that are 502 or more, and then (which has been advised..) you will only get to use 501 CP max in the tree's..

Next people will be screaming about that,

"You Respecced my Champion Points... I didn't know you were gonna do that... I was only at 502...."

Well a forced reset is gonna have to happen. If they decide to make it optional, anyone with more than 501 is gonna say screw it and not take the reset and exploit it.

And in some ways I consider this way of doing it to be better than giving you an optional one-time free respec. With this method you've got a week to freely try out the skills and see if you like the new way that they work, switching your skill points around cheaply as many times as you like until you come up with a build that works for you with the changes.

SERIOUSLY! Not wanting a free respec is the stupidest request i have ever heard on this forum. Boo hoo i can't memorize 10 abilities that is ridiculous! I was thankful as hell after that last respec. they should at least make it optional for those who can memorize what we have on our 10 bars...

Ah yes, you've got to love the people who simply aren't capable of seeing anything from any point of view other than their own. I wouldn't expect anything else from you, though, to be perfectly honest. Your posting history is clear. Everyone needs to do things the exact same way that you do, or they're WRONG.

So I'd like to ask @i3ig_Gun how many characters do you have? How long did it take you to do your forced respec? Would you care to take the time to do a full forced respec on 16 characters, each with 150-300 skill points, every time there's a big patch?

Of course I fully expect that your reply will be that people are WRONG to have more than one character...

Why can't we have an optional respec. Some people enjoy changing things up after major patches. Some people also don't want to buy a respec from the crown shop/ingame at such an outrageous price.

Lame. At least make it optional, or temporarily make the respec shrine cost 1g per skill point instead of 50g. You have done the respec cost reduction before! So it is not just possible, but you should already have the code written that can do it! There are ways to handle major updates and skill respecs that could make all your customers happy, not some happy and some unnecessarily irritated.
