My personal bugbear is when people use the word 'toon'. As a veteran RPG player (going back to pen & paper) it is like someone scraping their nails down a blackboard. If the word 'character' is too long to type, then 'char' is a perfectly acceptable abbreviation.

I hate that word with a [SNIP] passion. You're my new friend.

I had never heard the term "toon" for a character until I started playing this game. What's the origin on that anyway?

And well some people like to be specific xD I don't mind seeing people type ESOTU, but I'd just type ESO personally.

I can't take it either when people call them "toons".

They aren't cartoons. They are fictional characters in a fictional world that (obviously) has a strong base in realism, and they are rendered more realistically than as a cartoon.

They have personalities and lives in the fictional world, like characters in a book.

Toon is a term popularized by the 1988 film Who Framed Roger Rabbit; it commonly refers to distinguish characters appearing in cartoons from regular humans.

    Related to this usage are:
Toon (role-playing game), a role-playing game published by Steve Jackson Games in which the players take the parts of cartoon characters
Toontown Online, a 2003 online computer role-playing game

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toon

A cartoon is a form of two-dimensional illustrated visual art. While the specific definition has changed over time, modern usage refers to a typically non-realistic or semi-realistic drawing or painting intended for satire, caricature, or humor, or to the artistic style of such works. An artist who creates cartoons is called a cartoonist.[1]

Whenever I hear someone using "toon". I imagine that the person has been hit in the back of the head recently. It is the only possible explanation.

And the game is TESO the TU is a sham .

I like this. I agree; I'm only here 'cause our RPG group moved
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis
