My personal bugbear is when people use the word 'toon'. As a veteran RPG player (going back to pen & paper) it is like someone scraping their nails down a blackboard. If the word 'character' is too long to type, then 'char' is a perfectly acceptable abbreviation.
I had never heard the term "toon" for a character until I started playing this game. What's the origin on that anyway? My personal bugbear is when people use the word 'toon'. I can't take it either when people call them "toons".
They aren't cartoons. They are fictional characters in a fictional world that (obviously) has a strong base in realism, and they are rendered more realistically than as a cartoon.
They have personalities and lives in the fictional world, like characters in a book.
