It's like everybody (well, apart from me) has a phone these days to tell everybody about their social lives, like "Just took a dump." so of course almost everybody had a diary back in the day and some still do.

I know what you mean though, it's funny. "Dear diary, I'm about to kill somebody so come and find me somewhere and take this knife out of my hand that I've had held behind my victim for 2 weeeks without him noticing, and I'll reward you!"

Not so much they have a diary or journal, the fact these villains leave them laying around for anyone to find. Then again, criminals are not considered to be of high intelligence.

Some of them were suposed to be a military geniuses tho, if i recoll corectly you even had to find a diary of *** type alchemist once.

To belive that they would throw them around, on ground under the tree... lol maybe its subconcious subotage hehehe

Well technicly there is logic gap in it. In medival only few people really knew how to read/write so there was a special proffesion of chroniclers. We do not see in fact any school or wondering teachers around ESO world, so to belive that common people (like a farmer) would actually learn how to write and read ;/ Its a bit of logic gap. But lets say they did, diary was for himself to better remember things practice writing and soo on, it was never for stranger. Also cost of paper and ink would be quite high so even if they knew how to write and read, they still most likly would never be able too afford (in case of people from farm atleast) for paper and ink. This and the fact that they would for sure never leave thing so expensive private and importent just left on ground.

considering that in the medieval ages a minority of elite would know how to real/write, I guess their diary were sort of safe.

I like the ones that you find and at the end of it, it says. "P.S. remember to destroy this after reading it this time, we don't want to let this information fall into enemy hands."

But yeah, this sounds like something that should be on the Evil Overlord's list of things not to do, if it isn't already.

-I will not keep a diary, a journal, or any other form of personal literature to which I might write details that could help the hero on their quest to defeat me. If for whatever reason I absolutely must keep one, I'll deliberately put false information in it. I also won't conveniently leave it lying around for anyone to find.
