When leveling a skill line, do you gain more XP (specifically when turning in quests) if there are multiple skills from that particular skill line on your bar than you would if there were only one?

As I've noticed, yes. While I can't give you exact numbers I can tell you that by the time I'm done with Silver I usually have every skill line leveled to the max by doing exactly as you've said. Swap to a bar that has as many skills from one tree (unmorphed of course, don't waste those skill points). Also, it's beneficial to make yourself a set of purple training armor for each type of armor to switch to when you're turning in quests.

TIP: Don't make nord armor, it starts to look furry ... and I'm told by my friend that if you make ancient elf the pleats make it look like your wife picked out your armor.

Also, why do skills keep leveling up after they have been morphed, what is the point?

If I'm not mistaken, they become more powerful as they progress to level IV.

That is correct. Each skill rank I to IV increases the skill's power or duration.
