Please provide provision to transfer characters between Megaservers

prabhu.abhimanyurwb17_ESO
I currently play out of Asia and i have a lower latency while playing in the EA Megaserver, hence i currently play in the EA megaserver. But, I shall be travelling to US for work and it will be for long term and I would prefer to play using my same character on the NA megaserver !. I doubt i will be able to create and play a character from scratch again :(.
Now that the cash shop is established, why not provide this service for a nominal fee if required (or maybe have 1 character transfer per certain period for free :) )
You could transfer the character and all the items/DLC the player has purchased from the cash shop too.
Although, it might not be fair to transfer some things which could vary based on Megaserver, like Alliance points (i.e. if its more difficult to earn it in one of the Megaservers due to the player competitiveness in that server).

Please add this feature in the near future !

I would avail myself of this type of function.

Currently playing on NA PS, but wouldn't mind testing the waters on the EU PS server.

Sadly my crown store purchases (specifically, my mount) is tied to the NA server...and I refuse to purchase another that I may not use.

Why? Just gives you a chance to play the game all over again and with a different class and race if you so desire!

Other games have the option to transfer between servers in the cash shop, so its not too unreasonable a thing to ask for I would think. And while I am happy with my characters placement... I wouldn't begrudge the possibility to those who feel they might benefit from a change in scenery.

Bigger slap to the face considering they allowed a PC-to-Console transfer.... eveyrone on Pc hoarded items and money, with their exclusive content that was only available during Pc's time and then got to transfer to a console... so on the first day of the console release, many people already have a huge headstart, and jacking up prices for everything...

needless to say, they won't do it now when it would be a non-issue, their logic... if you bought items in the store, they want you to re-buy it all.

That's pretty crazy (assuming your description of their logic is sound).

Me: I want to transfer my character(s) and all purchases & equipment etc to EUPS (and possibly back to NAPS later)....I'll pay you for it.

ZOS: No. If you want to transfer, you'll need to create a new character, and then buy Crown Store items again.

Me: Ok then, I'll stay on NAPS....which means you don't get any money from me.

In saying that, any transfer option would require time and resources. Decisions around names would need to be made (what if a character exists on both servers? Which they do...in my case, I have the same characters on both PS servers) etc.

So the profit would need to outweigh the cost.

I'd probably give the NA server a try if they offered this at a reasonable price as purchasing dlc for both servers is nonsensical really.

You misunderstand the meaning of my post. People are constantly trying to say "Well this game does this and that game does that so why doesn't ESO do these things?". This is The Elder Scrolls Online, not The Collaboration of Every Other Game in Existance Online. Salty? No. Logical? Yes.

People always love to throw out ideas without understanding anything from a technological standpoint. Many ideas that players have would have had to have been built in from the ground up, some things would require resource investment which would take away from new content development, and some things just plainly don't make economic sense. While a fractional percent of players might use the OP's feature, that is FAR from making it worth the financial resource investment.

Heck, we're talking about a game that claims that they cannot add any more character slots due to game limitations while numerous other MMOs out there allow additional character slot purchasing. One would think this would be super easy for them to do, but apparently not.

I have reached a point where I am considering quitting the game over this issue. My friends and I joined the Xbox One EU Megaserver at launch because we were excited to play and the NA Server was crashing and could not handle the demand of everyone trying to play that first week. We played on the EU server through leveling and have now all reached Veteran content. The problem is, I am tired of questing and want to begin playing end game content but alas, cannot find guilds to join that are active in my time zone since I am in North America.

Now my problem looks like this:

    1. I can't enjoy the PvP and PvE Dungeon content that I want to by myself.
    2. I can't find a guild to join that is active during the hours when I am active.
    3. My friends and I frequently try to join the queue for dungeons and spend hours waiting, never to be paired.
    4. I don't have the desire to start over and re-play the entire game on a new server.

    and...

    5. ZoS won't offer the option to transfer my account from the EU Server onto the NA Server.

The thing that is most frustrating about this to me is that they offered a Mac/PC transfer onto consoles, so they clearly have the technology to transfer characters between platforms/servers. Why won't you make it available to us ZoS??? I would gladly pay a transfer fee to be able to get onto the NA Server!

You forget that when PC transfers were done, they were done BEFORE they posted the game to PSN and XBOX, they had to begin the copy process DAYS beforehand so they could complete the copy process before adding the game to the console servers. So it appears that the technology they have is clearly preventative of this process taking place AFTER the game went Live on console.

Or, it just indicates they wanted to give PC users priority on the console too... and the fact they were dealing with bulk transfers.

I don't know of any MMO, ever, that has offered transfers between regions. Only between servers within each region (if there were several servers in that region).

Sorry bud, I however hope you get to transfer at some point, not against it at all. :)

LoL, switch from a NA server to oceanic, for example...

Or even while not quire a transfer, games like Runescape, that were made at the start of 2000, already doing a better job than ESO, and other MMO's by allowing you to switch server/region on a whim and begin playing where you left it, all normal, no fuss. It being my first MMO, i was rather surprised to learn they were an exception to the rule, and all other MMO's not only lacked server variety but you were locked down to one server, and even if they release a server in your region... you have to retsrat completely, a free transfer would be seen as a handout.

I doubt character name should be a major issue when it comes to transfer. Recently i was approached by a GM to change my character name just because it had the word MALACATH in it (who also happens to be one of the daedric princes :) ). And all i had to do was log off and when i logged back in, it asked me to rename my character.
So when they perform the character transfer, they can make it a must to rename your character in new server. If your old name already exists in this server, then just give it another name.
And they can have a down time of maybe a few days on the players account if required. Its not like subscription is a must anymore, so not being able to play a few days shouldn't be a huge issue

Wait WHAT!? that is total bull, I could understand if a name was inappropriate but something like that! why the hell are they spending time trying to correct minor stuff like that when they could be doing something productive!?

copyright infringement... ZoS don't own elder scrolls IP, they work with it. Bethesda themself can still take issue with their IP's being used as names and mis-representing them etc... You know how companies can sue it's own self for stupid reasons...

Order and chaos lets you transfer characters between regions. Names are resolved during migration. If it's already taken, you just choose a new one. All purchased items travel with you. It's not hard.

Zenimax tries to charge $50 for an in-game vendor helper but doesn't think about monetizing account/character transfers between regions or platforms. Apparently they missed just how much world of warcraft made doing this. Between 2005 and 2012 I spent over $200 just on server transfers as I kept leaving and starting up playing again.
End the tedious inventory management game.
