I have an R720 that was taken out of production, and needed a game machine so I threw a GTX970 in it.
It ran the game great on ultra settings, but textures were randomly displaying pink.
I found a solution here in the support forum that involved limiting the OS to 16 cores (which worked), but I was not satisfied leaving 8 of my 24 cores unused.
So after trying many things including setting processor affinity to enable different combinations of cores, I finally found the solution that works, but does not involve disabling cores at the os level.
In UserSettings.txt:
SET RequestedNumWorkerThreads "0"
No more pink textures, and I can still run ultra settings in Stormhaven at ~50-60 frames plus or minus a few depending on the mob at the questgivers and how many aoes are going off.
I'm pretty sure I disabled multithreading, but I'm good with that because framerate doesn't appear to suffer at all.
Hopefully this will help someone else that has a huge number of cores.
My wife complains that I never listen to her. (Or something like that.)
