Dual wield magicka build?

I just started a fresh dk earlier today, and I was just wondering how effective a dual wield magicka build is. I've seen a few builds for it, but most of them are outdated. I'm not looking for an entire build, just wondering if it's worth putting my time into and any hints you may have for it.

I really enjoyed the conjuration abilities in Skyrim, being able to conjure your own weapons, and I was hoping I could make a melee magicka build with this game too. I know that dual wield gives more spell damage than even destruction or healing staves do at the lower levels, but what about for vet levels?

If I don't plan on using light/heavy attacks on dual wield, having a restoration staff in the second bar for magicka regeneration, and use only magicka based attacks, would I still be able to put out a decent amount of dps? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you're dual wielding swords and have the last passive in that skill line then I believe this offers more spell power than a 2h sword.

The dual wield "twin blunt and blade" passive now only applies to weapon damage. Naturally dual wield offers more spell power than staff, but 2h sword "heavy weapon" passive gives more damage. Your spell power will drop in the character screen but your abilities will display more damage.

Wouldn't it be the same for both? Both the dual wield and two handed swords passives should effect the same stats, or at least will be changed to do that in a future patch right?

Technically staffs should offer the highest spell power as these weapons actually scale off magic, but thats a matter for another thread. the dual wield passive used to improve overall damage, plus the fact that it adds an extra gear piece it was a no brainer before. 2h always offered the extra damage passive but it would lose out to dual wield because of the extra gear piece. Now that dual wield has lost the overall damage increase, even with the extra gear piece, 2h sword passes it (only by a little though). 2h is actually better for a magic DK because it has a built in gap closer (crit rush/stampede) which DK'S need. There is no mention in the orsinium patch notes of a pending change to dual wield or 2h regarding this. Although I wouldn't put it past ZoS, there was no mention of this change to 2h and dual wield, in fact a player found this information out. There is a video of his findings on this forum somewhere, I believe it is in a thread called " 2h or dual wield for magic builds" or something along those lines.

Your spell damage would be increased by having dual wield.

Your spell power is stronger with dual than with staff, but your spell power is even greater with 2h sword vs dual wield. Hierarchy goes 2h sword, dual wield, then staff. In that order from greatest spell power to least.

Other than the spell power buff, what are some tips for this build? Has anyone had a lot of success with it?

Note that even though 2H will give more overall damage, if you get a set bonus that gives extra spell power with DW you will get an increase to non-damaging stuff like heals.

While this is true for other classes, DK'S heals are all either based on damage done or are a set amount. The only skill that scales it's heal off of spell power is inhale, which is part heal, part damage dealer. I do like dual wield for the extra set piece though, but not for magic DK. Plus with the built in gap closer 2h sword is definitely the way to go.
