I Have a brand new pc runs great. Before the last patch I used the launcher and it loaded instantly and the play button also loaded instantly after that.

NOW...whatever that patch did, it made the launcher load at least a minute for me and to actually hit the play button. So the patch messed the launcher up.

Yea me too! Now I don't only get to waist time waiting for f#!$!n loading screens,i get to wait for a s@$#y launcher!

Dont use the launcher to start teh game, only to download patch. When you start the game just go directly to the eso.exe file and go directly into the game from there witout starting the launcher.

I think we all know that, but it would be nice to run the game the way it was made to run. Scary part this may be how they want it to run.

Actually we all don't know! (at least I didn't) Thanks for the information! I do agree though that it needs to run properly but having a workaround is always good

While this is a work around, this does not solve the problem. I LIKE starting from the launcher simply because, if there is some hotfix or news, BAM...it's right there and I like going to the PTS (plus the play button used to show up immediately so it was a non issue until recently)

And as far as me setting compatibility settings or whatever......I didn't have to a week ago so why should I have to now? I didn't change anything on my end.......Zenimax did something on their end...period. fix/change it back.

Yes. It's my problem too, but it started after 2.1.8

Same problem since last week (slow launcher, wait like 30 sec to get PLAY button).

My launcher after todays patch keeps saying repair and I also cant connect to the game, there is a problem, please look into it.

Yeah. Started having this issue as well.

Don't know if it's related, but my play in Cyro has also suddenly gone lagilicious. Aside from the load screens that take a very long time (1-1.5 minutes) I'm pretty much sidelined now that I have these sudden pauses in-game that make it impossible to play. Oh yeah, and battle spirit still falls off. *laughs*

Same issue here, launcher will not load up like it used prior to patch. It will take 2-4 minutes for play button to appear. Longer loading screens as well. I loathe the times when I have to jump from one crowded zone to the other now. IC was a long loading from the get go. Was not like that before. Wonder if Orsinium will be longer.

These are problems I ran into in other MMOs about 8 years ago and thought to myself:

One day coding and server speed technology will resolve such issues.....HA!

As an update, we are actively investigating a resolution for the play button not showing up in the launcher. As of yet, we don't have any additional information regarding a fix, but it is being investigated as we speak.

For the time being, if it is getting in the way of logging in, please feel free to launch ESO directly from ESO.exe once your game has finished patching.

Possible data point: I was experiencing these difficulties with the launcher -- ever since Monday's patch, it's been very slow to load applications and then update the list and then to display the realm status and play button.

Just now I accidentally ran it normally (not as administrator as I usually have been since I heard that was the best way to ensure it patched correctly) and it loaded instantly, play button and all, four times in a row. Then I tried "run as administrator" again and it was slow as all get out.

I have a question:
What happens if I wouldn't know about an available update and start the game from the eso.exe like I always do? Would it lead me to the launcher automatically?
I'm just curious

Personal update.........the issue has disappeared. DL bar/play button once again shows up the moment after the news hits.

I did nothing on my part so I can only assume it was some communication issue between Zenimax and the launcher that has been fixed.

Now it's time to fix the excessive load times we are all having when moving from zone to zone or dungeon.

UPDATE:
as of today my launcher "Play" button now works and loads immediatly!
thank you for the fix,

BUT

i still have the problem that the "Repair" option is still missing!

i started having this problem this morning today, and about 3 hours ago the "play" button disappeared and never returned.

i'm using win7 64, i never changed anything in the computer, until yesterday i was able to launch the game normally using the launcher, but now i no longer have any button to start the game.
