IC - Telvar stones - Mob death PVP losses

Hi guys, Any of you had this happen to you?

I had some guy nearly kill me in IC mid combat (i was farming NPCs), i got a lucky heal off and so his radiant destruction left me very low on health but not dead which made a nice change. i got a stun on him so he was CC'd. but a mob ended up killing me (or a player named "wormcultist frost mage" i suppose) on the death recap it showed the same last shot/kill shot with the skull and cross bones next to it was NPC. Yet i lost 80% of my stones.

i wouldnt mind but my experience has been i can do 90% of the damage to a guy but if NPC gets the kill shot i get jack, any one else had a similar experience to mine? i
