Curing vampirism, what happens?

Does my vampirism skill tree revert to 0? Do I get the skill points back? If I do contract vampirism again, do I need to level it up again from zero?

The tree stays leveled, you just don't have access to it when not a vampire. Any points you have in the tree stay unless removed as well.

Whatever skills you've leveled up in the vampirism tree will remain at that level upon your reversion to humanity.

If you want your skill points back, though, you will have to do a SP respec.

I recently returned to humanity and spent 13,000 gold to respec the SP. Mind you, I had 269 or so SP, so your cost will likely be lower than what mine was.

Why did you respec? After all, the SP on the vampire skill tree are not that many. What make you decide to give up vampirism? I'm a bit undecided about it...

I still hear from people who don't get their skillpoints back when curing vampirism. So, to be sure, you should reset your skillpoints, otherwise they will stay assigned to the vampire tree. If you decide to become a vampire again, your skills experience (and skill points, if you didn't reset) will be at the same point as before the cure. The tree will basically just become invisible.

The respec freed up 10 or so points from the vampire tree that I then invested into other skills that I wanted to experiment with.

As for giving up vampirism, eh, I just got bored with it. I turned Nova Sky into a vampire in September 2014, so a year as one was well-spent. I might go back, eventually, but for now she's once again a mere human being. o:)

I love vampirism. I love the extra regen (both magika and stamina), I love undeath and the stealthed speed. I also love the ultimate and the mist ability. Problem is that I must have the skills slotted on my ability bar in order to enjoy the regen bonuses. That means that I lose 2 slots, one on each bar, when I could put other stuff, such as ice comet instead of bats, and power surge instead of mist...

The only good thing about Vampirism is bats and a couple of passives. I find them easier to kill than Werewolves since the last update. Plus they look ugly as hell. I just found Vampirism to be more of a hindrance than beneficial, so never went back. It's still good to try out WW and Vamp though to see if they fit your play style.

I agree with the person further up. The only useful thing about being a vampire imo is the extra stealth speed. So much so, I don't think I could live without it any more. Began a new character and I had forgotten how painfully slow sneak movement was.

I'm also a dunmer and I'd hate to see how bad the fire damage is when using another race. Due to how quickly you go through the stages, it becomes a pain trying to find enemies at higher levels due to them all mostly hanging out in 3's. There seems to always be someone looking in your direction thus feeding becomes a pain too, especially in delves. Wouldn't change back, but at the same time, I won't be contracting it on my proceeding characters. More so because they're not dunmers.

My heart always sinks a little when a boss is fire damage orientated in group delves. I know there's a chance I'll go down quicker than a pair of knickers on a wh.....

With the new patch the damage increase is only 25%. Besides I'm a Sorcerer, self-healing is not an issue. If I am against fire dmg dealers, I just make sure my harness mgika is up all the time. If I'm in trouble I just cast healing ward and myst, move about for 4 secs and then I'm back to 100% health. Also, I find that the extra Stam regen quite handy, especially in pvp. As a sorc I hardly block and dodge-roll but sometimes it's inevitable and without medium armor on my stam regen sucks...

I am still a Vampire because I like everything about it, apart from the Bugged Mist Form (Isn't reducing your damage by 75% and you can be smash-CC'd in it, yes.. in MIST)

Do you use invigorating much? And yeah, Mist is quite buggy. I have not noticed issues with the damage reduction (although I confess I have not paid much attention to it) but the fact that you get CCd nontheless is quite frustrating. Are they intending to fix this?

Glad I'm on PC... I use an add-on called "DressingRoom" which allows me to swap my loadouts on the fly- just not in combat. So I run with Bat Swarm ultimate most of the time just to get the mag/stam regen bonus... but when it comes to Group Boss fights, I swap to my other loadout and use Overload to burn them down. I find I never need to use an ultimate in regular combat, even against regular quest bosses. I also know of areas that I can quickly Wayshrine too- feed- then Wayshrine back so I don't really need to fear the vampirism progression factor; the most I ever let my character get to is stage 2.
