Heavy armor reduces weapon dps by how much?

I have reached an impasse in the game that could possibly be game breaking? Dual wield has not been satisfying since I found the dragonknight abilities more efficient even thought I dont have skills invested in magicka. I've heard that magicka based abilities dmg are weakened by heavy armor and I should be using light or medium armor.

I also want to switch to sword and shield. The problem is that if I want to use this set up, I will have invest my crafting in abilities in woodworking(shield), sword(blacksmithing), medium armor(clothing), and I also have points invested in enchanting.

I want to know how much is weapon dmg and magicka based ability dmg reduced by with heavy armor. Also is heavy armor REALLY that bad in PVP.

A few things. It's not so much that your magicka is weaker because of heavy armor, it's that light armor's passives provide a huge boost to magicka.

Armor resistance is the same no matter the armor type. It "hard" caps at 33000 resistance. At 33k you will prevent 50% of damage done to you. However if your opponent has effects that reduce your armor such as their armor penetration, then any resist above 33k will be taken into account (so having a resist total above 33k will still help)

Different armor just provide different amounts of resist, they then have different perks that can effect your ratings.

There are more than enough points to max out crafting, however you can always purchase items from a guild trader if you do not wish to put points in.
