Need help after long break

I left when the Ps4 version was released and even then only reached VR1. I played mainly for pvp but preferred the pre 50 pvp so it wasnt a gear grind fest.
I was wondering what classes etc are viable for both pve and pvp this time around? I currently have a templar at V1 and a NB at level 10. Im not sure which one to level and unsure of the current state of the game. I tried searching around for information but its difficult to tell whats in date information and which isnt and the newer information has mention of things i didnt access such as champion system, gear sets etc etc.
Im not a hardcore player by any means and probably never will obtain the best gear, i simply dont play enough/desire enough to get it.
Im torn between leveling my templar or NB or switching to my old pc character and leveling a DW sorc again for the storm abilities/DW.
My intention is mainly to have two characters one for sub 50 pvp and one for VR after seeing the new DLC stuff.
