DK two handed build, help?

I'm a bit new to this game, so I don't really know much about the game in general. But at the moment, I'm interested in making a dragonknight using two handed that does decent dps, but also has some degree of survivability, that's also made for solo play. I'm also shying away from a lot of builds because I'm not interested in switching weapons, at least not at the moment.
Could anybody give suggestions as to skills, or link me to a guide that fits the above? Thanks!

For a double 2h build I would suggest...

    DPS bar:
    Crit Rush
    Executioner
    Wrecking Blow
    Unstable Flame
    Burning Breath
    U: Ferocious leap

    Buff/defense bar:
    Rally
    Igneous shield
    Hardened armor
    Cinder storm
    Dragon fire scales
    U: Corrosive armor

It's based on the build you suggested for me. Lol

The only difference is OP can put all their offensive skills on one bar and keep rally on the buff bar. Plus they'll have hardened armor for the buff and an extra damage shield.

I was messing around in PTS 1.6. At the time I didn't have a DK, was testing around with one and a couple of friends to see if i wanted to make one. Obv things can change around since you want to main 2h weapon.
Anyway i'm not saying its the best but Something to look at (:

Put everything you can into stamina. If you feel you are squishy then throw a few into health. I would also suggest 2 pieces of heavy armor and 5 medium. The medium will reduce your cost of stamina skills and also provide you with more damage.

I didn't put brawler on here because I already added 2 damage shield skills plus the aoe damage on brawler is terribad. You'd be better off just spamming burning breath.

Also, what are good choices for race?

If u intend on levelling the undaunted skill line u can get 6% bonus to hp/stam/ magicka for wearing 5m/1h/1l. I use chest heavy and belt light + 5 medium. Also for a soloing hard content Id suggest a SnB maybe when ur more comfortable with weapon swaps. For races, I like nord and imperial for dks.

Honestly, you're going to eventually have more skill points than you'd know what to do with. Sure, you'll struggle in the beginning to grab everything you want right off the bat. If this is your first character, I'd suggest putting points into the 3 main crafts (smithing, clothing, workworking). That's what I did. I'm starting a new toon for my dk and will be doing provisioning. Like I mentioned before, you're going to want mostly medium armor for staming regen and increased damage. If you go all heavy you'll run out of resources pdq.

Tri-pots (three stat potions) have the same effect as Green dragon blood and the two do not stack. I prefer the pots because it frees up the spot. also 7 medium is great for creating a susper sustained build. You really want medium armor because you are giving up way to many DPS passives just to save a few skill points. BTW...if you need AoE (its the only type of skill you do not have in the builds listed) you could run DW on the second bar to spam Steel Tornado, but my preference is Bow, I'm liking Bombard for AoE.

Hm... makes sense. I guess I'll stick with medium then.
Question though, are those potions obtainable through something other than alchemy? Because that's one thing I really don't like.

When I first started, I looked at this obtainable skill point thing and decided that I'd eventually have about 150 skill points and built around that. Looking back at it though, it seems that 220 seems more likely.
I guess it wouldn't hurt to add more crafting to the character.

Sort of revised my skill points, mainly to add a lot more crafting into since I'm turning it into a craft character for my other characters eventually. I'm planning on not putting points into woodworking and enchanting till later on into the game.

Darn. I could've swore that I read they were changing that. I went with redguard for my stamina dk. What do you think would be best? Food or drink? I'll probably be seriously lacking in stam regen, but I also want to beef up my magicka pool so I can cast more of my class skills. I'm starting this craft from scratch so I won't have access to many of the great recipes off the bat.

You seem to have way too much magicka focused skills for a stamina build. To put things into perspective at v16 most likely a standard stamina build has ard 10k magicka. Obsidian shield costs 3k+ and cinder storm costs 3k+. You won't be able to effectively use scales, hardened armor, cinderstorm and obsidian shield. I'd lose the hardened armor and cinderstorm. Obsidian shield and scales u can keep. Also u seem to lack Aoe. Put rally on ur first bar and change ur 2nd bar to bow or DW. You can shift burning breath to ur 2nd bar and use it as a Aoe bar.

What the 2h offers in term of unstoppable single target dps it severely lacks in Aoe. To be effective in end game content ur going to have to weapon swap. Either bow or DW.

    My 2h single target bar:
    Unstable flame
    Wb
    Executioner
    Rally
    Evil hunter/obsidian shield/flames of oblivion

    Aoe DW
    Caltrops/eruption
    Fiery breath
    Steel tornado
    Gdb/coagulating blood/blade Cloak
    Evil hunter/flames of oblivion/obsidian shield

    Bow Aoe
    Caltrops
    Snipe
    Bombard
    Gdb/coagulating blood/eruption/obsidian shield
    Evil hunter/flames of oblivion/fiery breath

I leave snipe in the bow bar for fights that require ranged dps.

    @Acsvf
Also I understand weapon swapping can be daunting initially. Heck it took me 3 months to learn to weapon swap effectively. But the earlier u learn the faster u will get the hang of it. For pvp SnB is so popular and effective for a dk so my advice is learn it early and learn it well. It is an amazing tool and when used properly it opens up so much in terms of utility and play style.

There is no one size fits all for builds. For example if I know a dungeon is going to be full of daedra/undead I slot evil hunter, if a fight is going to have lots of mobs spawning and damage is going to be incoming I favor obsidian and more Aoe, if it's a single target ranged fight like engin guardian I bring bow, if I'm soloing hard content or ic I use SnB. All this is based on weapon swapping and keeping your skill lines diverse to an extent.

In addition one also has to consider personal play style. Some people run more defnsive skills like dragon scales because they prefer it whereas I'm more of a dps centric player. So best way for u to find out what works is try things out and make ur own build. It is eso after all :)
