Just for the sake of curiosity... (I make this anonymous so that people with a lot of stones don't get looked for in game, but feel free to comment or explain your personal "stone attitude" ;-) )

A stone is a stone. I bank them each time I die or return to the bank, even if it's only one stone.

✭✭✭✭✭I used to bank at 200-300 but wait longer now that I have a boat load in the bank. If I go up into the districts I will bank beforehand, but while in the sewers I find I can get to 1000 no problem usually. I figure the one in 30 chance I will lose them is made up for by the multiplier effect.
I'll add, that is on my Templar. If I played my NB at all I would probably wait much longer. In fact I'll bet if you were to cross reference the data, those who wait longer, in order, are probably NB->Sorc->Temp,DKEdited by danno8 on September 27, 2015 2:25PM0 -

✭✭✭✭✭I usually bank them around 1000ish. Sometimes less, sometimes even way more. It really depends on the situation.
When I have finished a quest or am about to go to a dangerous district, I bank <1000 but when I am in a fight, it happens that I have over 2000 stones and take the risk.
I usually don't regret doing this. The only threat is a train/subway or if my base gets ganked.Auri-El is my lord,

I normally start getting nervous if I'm out and about with 1500+
