I need help with the Make Amends Achievement.

For this achievement, you have to get a bounty of 1000 and pay a guard. Problem being, of course, that when your bounty is that high, the guards tend to attack on sight. I've spent the last hour or so, trying to figure out how to make this work. I've tried killing a bunch of NPCs, and then hiding where I can see a guard but they can't see me and waiting for the red glow to go away. That didn't work, as the bounty lowered before the "kill on sight" did. So then I tried just stealing stuff, but that took forever to get the bounty high enough, and STILL the guards would attack on sight.

Has anyone managed to do this successfully, that might give me some pointers?

You have to do both. I already did the part where I paid the fence.

as your level gets higher the bounty you get per crime increases and the amount it takes to be KOS also increases. you may have to hold off until you get a higher level. just wait until the red guage is not at the 3rd bar and do not let the white bar hit the 3rd gauge as that one is based on your actual bounty and both guages can make you KOS

I get how it works. I'm asking how to make it work. Every time the red goes away enough, the white has gone as well. I spent about 3 hours on this last night. If you have a recommendation to keep the white high enough, but for the red to recede enough...part of the problem is that once the bounty is 1000, you can't see the red anymore.

What level do you recommend? I'm lvl 31.

Just tested this you can just pay off a fence and you will still get the achievement I paid a fence and got it I don't know what is wrong if you didn't get it you should send a ticket.

Hrm. It's not grey anymore, but it looks like it still wants me to pay the guard.

Based on that picture, you already have the achievement (you only had to meet one of the 2 conditions). So - no, you do not need to pay a guard

Well, now I know. I thought it wanted me to do both. On the upside of all that time wasted, at least I'm halfway to my 50 people murdered achievement...
