I'm probably showing my age here, but when I first saw the ESO logo, it immediately reminded me of this old album cover:
The ouroboros dates back to the 14th century BC/BCE. TAPP and ESO are similar in that their version both use a bird, as opposed to the more common serpent.

I'm not a big fan of The Alan Parsons Project, but my ex-hippie mother is.
She used to play "Eye in the sky" a lot. And I mean A LOT.
It took me years of therapy to get that tune out of my head.
