Howdy folks, So i did some testing the other day and found out that the Magicka return from heavy attacks on staffs is greater than that Stamina return for the other weapons. Is there any particular reasoning for this ?

Are you using a resto staff with that extra passive for return?

Is your mana pool smaller than your stamina pool?

I was actually testing Naked with Fire staff heavy attacks vs 2handed heavy attacks.
I was getting about 2k+ magicka back on heavy attacks with destro staff and only about 1500 stamn back on 2hander and 1handers its even less. Also found out that your Pool doesnt affect the return

i noticed this as well, i think its because staff heavy, is longer than 2handed heavy. i never really took the time to accurately time it, nor will i. but it always seems i can do 1 heavy+1light attack with my 2hander, faster than i can do 1 staff heavy. the staff i use is a restoration staff, and i do have points in the "increase stamina/magicka from heavy attack" trait.

Destruction Staff gets a passive to reduce Heavy Attack charge time though, albeit not very much but still enough to be considerable. I will admit 2h probably is still faster but only by a little bit.

Here's a question for OP though: Which is higher for you? Magicka or Stamina recovery? If your Magicka Recovery was higher that might explain a bit.

@UltimaJoe777 Actually i tested this as well. Resource Regen has no affect on this either. It appears to be just a flat number unless you have Champ points in the TENACITY line. So i guess my thing is why is it that Staff gives more resources than Melee weapon.

I have done a lot of testing on this Staff weapons give more magic with lighting and healing staffs doing more damage with the channeled attacks it seems the order of return from highest to lowest goes channeled staffs, other staffs, two handed, dual wield and the lease is from one hand and shield.

Also find that the 30% extra magic return form healing staffs never equals 30% it's a lot but not 30% it's 20% from my math.
