"it looks nothing like the fantasy Tamrielic material made from a volcanic form of malachite which is referred to as glass, but which is not actual glass"?
When you say "it looks nothing like glass" do you mean "it looks nothing like real world glass" or do you mean "it looks nothing like the fantasy Tamrielic material made from a volcanic form of malachite which is referred to as glass, but which is not actual glass"?
I was only asking because I've seen people on the forums complain that it doesn't look like the traditional TES glass armour, and I've seen people on the forums complain that it doesn't look like real world glass... Just curious which of the 2 camps you were in (and ready to correct educate you if you turned out to be in the "it doesn't look like real world glass" camp lol).Enemy-of-Coldharbour wrote: »

To this day I still can't get my head around how people can immerse themselves in a TES game running around with armour like that.
This isn't aimed at you in the slightest, but something that was always amusing on the Skyrim forums was people coming on complaining about this and that being immersion breaking, then they'd post their female character that looked like she had just walked off the Paris catwalk, wearing nothing but what others could construe as underwear type armour.

Don't discount linen as armour. The Greeks used a linen armour known as linthorax which was very effective. The exact method of making it isn't known, but the most common theory is that it was made from about 15-20 sheets of linen glued together. Modern attempts to recreate it using materials that would have been available in ancient times have shown that it would have been quite capable of stopping arrows or slashes from swords.Prof_Bawbag wrote: »

You're talking about immersion in a high fantasy environment where people can teleport, become invisible, and shoot fire \ lightning \ ice out of various orifices. The immersion people are looking for is immersion in an idealized fantasy setting, not realism. Some people simply let their idealism gravitate towards a visual aesthetic rather than functional realism.
Personally, I prefer the more attractive characters, female and male. I'll get to play a character bundled in 10 layers of protection this winter, my entertainment should be an escape from that situation.
Wouldn't the better question be: "Why is there glass armor"?Enemy-of-Coldharbour wrote: »I was really looking forward to this new style but it is really ugly and looks nothing like glass.

For as difficult/expensive it is to get glass Motif Pages, it should look a whole lot better than it does....
People were expecting glass armor/weapons that looked really cool like Skyrim but are extremely disappointed with the ESO Glass versions.

Seems... odd to put glass in armor.
This is how you identify the folks who never played other Elder Scrolls gamesIsnt glass transparent ? You wanna look at the boobies ?
