The smallest amount of people would use text chat. It's really not warranted or needed.
I don't get the demand for it on this forum. I'd never use it. I can say what I want in a fraction of the time
Well this forum is a tiny percent of console players.
Most as completely casual and would not use text chat.
Mostly, I turn area chat off and just use group or guild chat

Of course it is. Text chat was originally planned for console, and was functional as far as I know, but was scrapped in preference to the living room playstyle.
The silent majority would still use text chat
Most people just don't care to use the forums in my opinion.
There is still a use for text chat for many people which is why it should be implemented.
That's not ported PC code, it specifically refers to "GamepadChatSystem". Although it may just be a reference to the voice chat rather than an indication of text chat.No it means nothing.Funkopotamus wrote: »" The below code pops up every now and again when I start the game I never took the time to actually read it I just cleared it by pressing {A}, but after taking the time found it kinda interesting."

When you port code from one environment to another, it happens a lot that you port code you don't need.
One of the above errors is typical for not returning anything from the function call.

OK so it's definitely about text chat. I had no idea we had the LUA codes at UESPhttp://esodata.uesp.net/100010/src/ingame/chatsystem/console/gamepadchatsystem.lua.htmlThat's not ported PC code, it specifically refers to "GamepadChatSystem". Design says we don't want more chat containers on console...

Yeah, but I can't hear you because I turn that garbage off as soon as I log in. Pub voice chat was a TERRIBLE idea. Whoever made the decision that I should have to listen to mouth breathing neanderthals. Squeekers. E-thugs. Racists. Random conversations between people I don't care to hear. Couples arguing. Kids getting yelled at because their "parent" is to much of a p.o.s. to put the game down for a minute..... should be ashamed. They should be fired. This is the #1 BIGGEST immersion breaking feature in any game, EVER.
GIVE. US. TEXT. CHAT. PL0X!!!!!

I don't like Voice Chat either. I heard everything:
- Loud barking dogs
- Crying babies. It’s like they all have crying babies.
- Loud ‘Gabber’ music. Sounds disgusting. Try it here: https://youtube.com/watch?v=Ah3_DNdXp5o
- Couples who are word-fighting ("put that game off", "*PEEP* off, ***")
- Couples having sex. Nice, but weird.
- Players who are threaten me with an IRL visit. lol
- Sexual harassments. not so lol.
- Obsessive-compulsive people ("Pino, talk to me" and repeating that every 2 minutes)
- ...
But....
...maybe the majority likes it.
IMHO, they should offer both: text and voice chat.
So.....what are the devs waiting for...

Indeed.
Probably ZSO noticed while testing with actual users that they didn't use text chat.
I am not a fan of Voice Chat, but that means nothing. If about 80% of the people like and use it, then that functionality is just excellent.
Few people come to a forum to testify they like Voice Chat. You're an anomaly
The non-satisfied players land much easier in a forum. Due their shouting you could get the impression that it's all wrong.
Well, it isn't necessarily. We don't hear the voice of the silent majority.
Well I'm still for text chat, I'll be sticking with eso for awhile, and if it doesn't have text chat before no man skies comes out...well then idk lol
