Stupid Maw of the Stupid Infernal

Why do I have more Maw of the Infernal helms than all of my other monster helms combined (including 2 at VR16), and why is each and every one of them medium armour when my higher level characters only use light and heavy? Gah, stupid RNG!

OK, pointless rant over. I'm sure everyone else has one of these "the RNG Gods hate me" stories too.

I kind of feel like there's maybe a particularly sadistic banekin in charge of it who just sits somewhere inside the server saying:
"Oh, you didn't like that last Maw of the Infernal we gave you? Well here, have another one that's completely identical!!! Bwa ha ha, mine is an evil laugh!"

I have more blood spawn helms (light, med, heavy) than any other monster helm that I actually NEED/WANT,
and when I DO get one of the helms I've been after for months, it's almost always medium (sometimes heavy) when my main is a templar healer and former main is a magicka sorcerer, both wearing 7/7 light.
well... another elegant lining/grain solvent for me. yay

But this is exactly how true randomness works. If you had equal numbers of each monster shoulder, in equal numbers of armor weight, and equal numbers of traits, it would be pretty convincing evidence that the distribution was not random. That something was being manipulated behind the scenes.

Go pull 4 cards from a deck. Will you get each suit exactly once? Probably not. Go pull 13 cards from a deck. Will you get each rank exactly once? Very unlikely. But that seems to be what people are asking for from the RNG in ESO!

To be clear, I'm not asking for that. Just because I happened to post the immediate thought that ran through my head when I was disappointed to see yet another medium armour version of the Maw of the Infernal, that doesn't mean I'm actually asking for anything to be changed. Except maybe fire that particular banekin in the server who is just laughing at me. I don't like him.

The title of this thread made me laugh pretty hard.

It reminded me of when my nephew was about 8 years old and would be told he couldn't leave the dinner table until he ate all the vegetables on his plate..."Stupid vegtabulls on my stupid plate!"

You have absolutely no idea how apropos that gif is, considering that a friend and I were just re-enacting it in a bar late Friday night... We may have also been close to tears while reminiscing about the "I am a leaf on the wind" scene. It's a good thing my friends are just as screwy as me.

rng is a nightmare 7 runs of whitegold tower no named drops. so i opened a vault and got tanking gear while our tank got the set i was after.
