I've noticed from a couple days of Imperial City play that people are using Caltrops to prevent opposing factions into the arena. It goes like this: whoever is inside will constantly throw Caltrops at the doorway, and since you cannot access the entrance in combat it is virtually impossible to enter. Is this working as intended?
I'm not going to say it's working as intended, but I will say that if there are people in there preventing the ability for an enemy to enter, then the person trying to enter is probably trying to do so with the intent of being in the way or a general nuisance in the first place. Again, not saying it's intended, but it definitely puts on hold any interruption from kill-stealers, quest gankers, etc etc.
I actually don't care too much about it. Just wanted to slaughter the yellows inside, but it was perma-caltrops lol I'm a pvp player bud, the guys camping inside are PvE farmers

I noticed this the first day regarding doors and combat. Had just gotten a chest when someone jumped me. Was close to base so tried to escape home. No good, even tried to escape through the dungeon which ultimately got me killed in the tunnel. Felt like those days when keep doors were constantly bugged and you would het killed wasting time trying to get through them.
Personally, I don't think combat should prevent you from accessing any door in PvP. PvE either for that matter, including banks when fighting a guard.
PvEers can use it to get their achievements in if they're worried about PvP (or even PvE) zergs coming in and overwhelming them. PvPers can use it to gate fights so a losing enemy can't just keep spawning up and jumping back in. Really, unless someone is there spamming it for hours I don't see how this is inappropriate. Unless you happen to have been part of the blue zerg my friends and I got the other day using this method. Then I could see a reason to be mad.

Yeah, but this isn't your typical posting up in a resource with daedric mines, caltrops, batswarm, etc. This is just plain closing the door with a single button... lol

Well, unless they're all on that one quest, they need to leave the same way they came in eventually. You could stealth to the side and bomb them when they eventually try to escape!

The problem here isn't Caltrops (or the players using it), the problem is the fact that you can't open doors in combat. This never affected me before, but it's terrible in the Imperial City.
