Liquid Lightning animation?

Why can't I see the waterfall animation on my own liquid lightning? I was playing with another sorc yesterday and we both had it morphed the same way. I could see the waterfall of lightning (only way I can describe it) on his liquid lighting but not on mine. He told me he could see my waterfall and not his...just wondering why that is?
