Free skill point reset scroll

Instead of resetting everyone's skill points as part of dropping the patch, it might have been a better idea to give each player a one-time use skill reset scroll. I say this as I eagerly re-applied my skill points and dived into the new dungeons. 30 mins later I realised that I needed to massively overhaul my build to stand any chance of coping with this new content, with all the nerf's that have been made to stamina and gear. Just a thought for the next patch.

I'm with you on that. In fact, it's been discussed many times in the past (including just prior to and just after this update on PC), and I've always preferred this option. One other thing that they did for one of the major updates prior to console was they had a period of time in which you could respec super cheap. I liked that approach much better than the forced respec too.

Also allowing you to respec CP and attributes too  I had a stamina build but wanted to change after the nerfs to a magicka build. Most of my attributes are in stamina though, as were CP. Just gave up and started a new Sorc character instead

I agree, this would have been nice. Having a few low level alts, I would have preferred leaving their crappy skills on until I decided to play them again.

On a side note, I think it would be great if they adopted a change and save approach to redistributing skill points, much like Champion Points. I planned my respec out yesterday, and while going through and 243 skill points, I made one mistake halfway through and paid for a respec right then and there just because I knew this would be the cheapest moment to reclaim that wasted skill point.

I have to say I'd prefer a few days of lowered cost over a free one time respec. Mostly because it may still take a bit of trial and error before I decide I want to stay with a particular build or if I should scrap it and try something else. Then I may want to play around with different morphs to see which ones I like more.

Don't get me wrong a free reset's nice and all, I'm just saying that lowering the price for a few days would go a bit farther.

Ugh. This would be great. I don't know why they don't do this. It seems like they are intentionally trying to annoy us. I think it probably has to do with how the stats are applied. Maybe if they don't reset them they wont reflect the new base stats.

I proposed this before the update. Hopefully they took note, but they obviously didn't manage to do that for this one. A shame really, as we were wary of people being surprised by the forced reset, and there's another thread somewhere about exactly that surprise, and it not being well received.

There would be surprise regardless. How many people do you expect to suddenly notice they got a scroll before they notice their skills change and pay the shrine for a reskill over it? Frankly I think the method they used is better. People just like to whine about the smallest things...

At the least give an option like upon login players get a message saying something like "Do to the skills update would you like to reset your skill points?".

Last 2 skill updates I can remember just putting all my skill points right back into the same skills again because even with the skill updates it didn't effect how my character played.
