Scroll Temple Shield OP

We tested out the new temple shield if the gate closes. Seems to be working as intended and our healers are back to the drawing board with a new Heals/sec target.

Does it negate phoenix/yokedan effect? Is it a barrier or is it a zone effect though? If you run through and land on the pedestal with one of those sets will you be alive when you res, wait out the timer, and do the same thing back out.

The damage is in a zone directly on the scroll pedestal. It occurs instantaneous with the gate closing, so I imagine yokedan or phoenix wouldn't save you because it is persistent across the whole scroll pedestal.

We knew it was coming and we were stacked on the scroll pedestal before the keep flipped, so I don't know what the effect actually looks like from outside. Two people outside of the effect tried to rez and promptly died as well.

Have you tried killing yourself using a potion and then passing the barrier in ghost form?

[EDIT] And then I actually read the thread...

This whole barrier thing is quite dumb imo. Devs should actually work to make gates uncrossable when closed, instead of this bs. It should be a perfectly viable strategy to get behind the gate while it's open, grab the scroll once it's closed and climb the stairs of the gate to jump back out. There's no cheating/exploiting about that.

How would you react if your group enters a breach in a keep, and 5 sec later the defenders repair it to 100 % and your whole group gets oneshot because oh no you shouldn't be back there !

Agree completely. This change didn't get a whole lot of exposure when it was first announced, mainly because there were other far more controversial changes taking most of the attention. I think it is well worth a conversation now though. If you have pushed through the gates and claimed the keeps and the gate closes after then taking the scroll should still be possible. It's still inherently more difficult anyway because you have the issue of having to get it past keeps that are now owned by the defending faction.

Sadly though this is just another example of ZOS implementing a change a) in response to QQ and b) as a result of their inability to fix other issues (i.e the use of terrain to enter these areas from outside while the gate is closed).

It makes me sad to see situations, skills and mechanics nerfed as a result of ZOS' inability to make things work as intended. It really sucks the fun out of PvP.

Well, what do you expect, ZOS has proven to be incompetent for these matters since the launch of the game. I doubt it will change soon. I don't know if it's a lack of man power to treat with everything in time, or simply lack of brain power....

Personally I always thought it was pretty lame when a group would run in behind the open doors and stealth up in the area because they knew they couldn't take the scroll while it was defended. Then an hour after you take the keeps back they'd suddenly grab the scroll and make a run for it. It was a viable strategy and definitely not cheating but I don't think it goes against the spirit of design.
