What happens when you "take" a rat? Where does it go?

So I was minding my business...creeping around. I found a rat. I pressed x to take it. I checked my inventory. It's not there. Where should I be looking?

smacx250✭✭✭✭✭I haven't seen that for a rat - but if you kill them you get guts for fishing. Look for "guts" maybe? If you "take" insects you get "insect parts" for fishing.0 -

✭There's also a quest in EP where you collect rats to scare villagers out of a house because they think the rats carry plague.
But I've noticed instances where you find a body or something that looks like you can interact with (prompt pops up and everything) but nothing happens. For example, in Orkeys Hollow on Bleakrock, in the room with the Frozen Man there are some bodies of previous adventurers you can investigate but nothing happens. Might be a similar case here, except you actually catch the rat but nothing else happens.0 -

✭✭✭✭✭Well this one can only tell you what happens when she takes a rat.
The meaty bits Santie eats right away as they don't keep. The guts she keeps for fishing. Anything else gets chewed up and left on the nearest doorstep for one of the hairless ones to find. If this one is feeling really lively she might even leave it in one of their shoes or in their bed.

Anyway, I'm guessing you temporarily picked up a sack to place the rat in to use in a quest or alternatively you're holding it by the scruff of the neck so not to get bitten. Yeah ,I wondered where the rat was in ones inventory.
