Itemization, How it should be done and how @ZOS does it.

@ZOS the itemization in this game is terrible. The drop rate is next to nothing and even if you get a set piece you want it has a horrendous trait on it that just does not make sense. This is how @ZOS wants us to grind. Run content X,000 times trying to get the gear we want for our build and just to p!$$ us off they throw "training" on endgame gear and put "Stamina" on magic sets and "Magic" on stamina sets. But! This is nothing new, we have been complaining about this since launch yet @ZOS still continues to disappoint.

Now, how could we fix this? What could @ZOS do to make us grind for gear but not fell like a grind?

One idea I have is simply make a more powerful copy of every set piece with duplicate but higher states and have these sets obnoxiously expensive to craft or attainable only as a rare drop.

Example:

Lets say I want to upgrade my martial knowledge to Overwhelming Surge.

I would run WGT and IP over and over again until I get all the set pieces. Currently I have ran them more than 20x each and so far have only one piece.
Instead why not have this drop more frequently but have another set that is identical called "Molag's Overwhelming Surge" that has higher stats "more Max Magicka, Spell Damage, and does more damage with the 5 piece bonus?

This way players have an attainable set "V16 starter set" they can get, fill accomplished and can stay competitive in game-play. People will grind for the more powerful "Molag's Overwhelming Surge"! I promise you @ZOS. Players will be happy to get the upgrade over their current gear "Overwhelming Surge" but will grind hours on end to get the "Molag's Overwhelming Surge".

People who play these games want to progress. When a new DLC comes out "hint, hint" have the players able to upgrade rather quickly with good sets and then have more powerful versions for us to grind for that are difficult to obtain.

Any other suggestions on how @ZOS could fix this is welcome. I don't think I can stick around if the next DLC is as bad as this one with Itemization.

I remember monster set farming. 56 runs of CoH post IC patch and no helm. ZoS hates me. I must have pissed them off in a past life or something... and that is why I cannot agree to this. The rng would be even worse than the monster sets are now. Sorry, not going to run a dungeon 500 times to get one thing to drop.

We already are running things 500 times to get stuff to drop. I'v played since the DLC launched and have yet to get one single drop that I can use. I'v gotten some Willpower sets pieces but they all have Robust on them and when I looked at the numbers a V16 Willpower with robust is a downgrade from what I have already at V14. As it stand now set pieces with crap traits are the "overwhelming surge" and set pieces with good traits are the "molag's overwhelming surge".

New set pieces should be an upgrade not a compromise. If they wanted it to be a compromise they should not have increased to Vet level to 16. With three jewelry of the healer I have a total bonus "with arcane as the trait" of 3,341 magica and 121 recovery. If I switch to the V16 Willpower with the overly common robust trait "Stamina" I get 1,400 magica 186 spell damage and some extra stamina that I don't need. I get the spell damage I'm missing from enchants on the V14 healer set but now have to compensate for a lack of magica and recovery on the Willpower "with robust" by putting magica recovery enchants on the Willpower set. In the end I have not improved my character in any measurable way. Iv completely remained the same even though I upgraded my gear to V16.

So you have to grind to get sets of armour? I thought this game was to be fun and there would be no need to grind.
What is the point of mindlessly wasting time on the ZOS slot machine?
I have never found one full set of anything since I started this game and I'm just disappointed that upon reaching my first vet level and still not found an entire set of armour.

For some sets of armor. Others are easily craftable. And a lot are BoE, so you can just buy them from other players.

Not with the amount of gold I have. Playing this game the most I have ever had was 20k. As for crafting I'm kinda stuck on Spidersilk level. How does one craft armour sets exactly? I've heard folks claim they can craft Seducer sets etc.

For someone who has to solo most of the time, I'm not doing very good.

You know what would be a good idea? Allowing us to overwrite the traits on the equipment we get, just like we can do with enchantments.

Might want to try stealing sometime. Green treasures fence for 100 gold a piece, Blue for 250, and if you're lucky enough to find one Purple for 750. You can fence up to 50 stolen items a day without the Passive that increases it active.

Believe me I've tried that all I get is white items and and a bounty. Every frickin' time. Guards can see through crates and somehow know its me.

Here the "success" indicator for a game that tried to use a "double RNG system" (random on drop, random stats) and even to earn money by an ingame merchant platform for virtual and real money:

    http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Diablo-3-Player-Count-Drops-Big-Time-Consumers-Fed-Up-44005.html

All MMOs use token systems nowadays, I wonder why...

Maybe it just makes sense ?

Token systems can still be grind to borrow developers some time to develope new content, but it's much more satisfying for both. The developer is able to organize it flexible, the player knows what he gets.

You might be able to run a random and a token system at the same time for the same items.

You might introduce a crafting method to alter traits. You might restrict it to one single change, you might make it expensive because a lot of rare mats (legendary resins) are needed. Or just do it as for the new glass scroll parts, an expensive glew.

    So many better systems....

@ZOS Maybe some kind of item can drop where it allows us a random trait change on an item. It would be fun gambling for the right trait.

I'm not sure how you only had 20k max all the time you played, it's easy to get money in this game, I usually have 30k to 40k on each of my characters by the time im in my mid-20's and that's just playing the game, nothing special.

Armour sets can be crafted at special crafting stations all over the zones, if you look on the map you will see an icon that consists of a flame with a hammer and chisel in it, this is a special crafting area, at each one of those areas you can craft a different set. However, you can't craft the sets right away, you have to research them, you go to the special crafting station, click on the research tab and any item with a trait that you haven't learnt and you have in your bank or inventory will show up in there, research a number (i've not figured out how many of what type yet) of traits at that station and it unlocks the ability to craft that set.

Almost all pre-vet armour/weapon sets can be crafted at these special crafting stations, and all of those sets can be crafted at any level, even vet levels.

So I've heard. I research what clothing I can but that is halted because I get the same clothing with no traits or the same traits that I have already researched and by the by they are crap traits so I'm stuck.

My specialty was Primal armour but since the style stone is so rare, I can't make Primal sets.

As for gold? Getting single figure gold hauls does not make me rich. I got 40 gold once and that was promptly spent on repairs. I have to get repairs often it seems merely breathing can make your stuff lose durability as of late. Spidersilk garbs must be really fragile.

I have not found one complete set ever. That is why I'm not happy.

Sorry, this is hard to believe. All you have to do is to play solo and quest to 50 and your VR levels and invest some skill points into crafting. At lvl 50 you will have skill rank 45 or so at least in smithing, tailoring and woodworking, alone by deconstructs. You don't need to craft items for leveling crafting skills, you just need to deconstruct stuff you find in masses while leveling.

Exploring traits is another thing, but as you mentioned seducer set...you just need 3 explored traits per piece. You will have those after - let's say - two weeks....for every needed piece (light, heavy, medium armor and a preferred weapon type) even without spending any points into research speed skills?

I can't believe how one is able to neglect crafting totally in this game, while it was utter clear from the beginning, that those crafted sets are almost equal if not better in some cases as dropped sets, or you need at least both for good combinations...

Sorry, I am not able to get that...

I needed points to survive ie battling abilities and had to put my clothier on hold. Wearing just light armour is hard work. As I said have not found entire sets, I find the same traits on the same clothing I'm trying to excel at. I must have the worst luck in the world or this game is simply not for me.

You know what the game keeps throwing at me? Recipes. Not motifs, not clothes with traits I need to research, recipes. I have no interest in making food and started clothier as soon as I was able.

Now I'm annoyed with the whole lot of it.

Adding higher level gear as a much rarer drop rate, doesn't exactly make the grind...... easier?
