Breton v argonian

Hello everyone,

Basically, who do you reckon wins in healing capabilities. Of course bretons get bonuses to magicka etc but Argonians get 6% bonus self healing. Is the 6% bonus substantial enough to warrant passing on the bretons extra magic?

And why the hell do argonians have to wait so long to get their most useful passive?! Ha.

Thank you for reading. Discuss away!

If you mean healing OTHERS, Breton is the winner. For healing YOURSELF, go with the Argonian. All depends on your build and play style.

For tanking or stamina DPS, choose Argonian. For healer or magicka DPS, choose Breton.

    My opinion.

As stamina DPS Nightblade I had to use CP points to buff heals taken by 10% and, healing initiated by 10% with 6% more heals for Racials and 2% more healing with two heavy using stamina heals with 3k weapon damage I crit heal for 850~ on rally and 1.8 crit with vigor and that near keeps with the 20% healing buff.

Unless you also refuse to play the Elder Scrolls as anything but an Argonian like me go Breton it's not even close.

I love the look and culture of the Argonians, but their racials in this game suck. I've long advocated a system without any racial passives, a system that allows the player to choose their individual passives rather than "stereotype racial passives", or a system of trivial racial passives that don't effect combat.

Racial passives have worked in Elder Scrolls games in the past because they were single player games. In an MMO, such passives provide certain advantages over other players who choose not to min-max their character with a race that is better than others. That system is mostly fine in PVE, but creates small balancing issues in PVP, especially without soft caps. Player skill or numbers will determine most fights, but passives can create the gap in the event of equal skill capability.

Not to mention it's just boring to see all the same race and class/role combinations.

    Erm I use

    Imperial dk tank
    Orc dk stam dps
    Imperial hybrid templar dps
    Redguard stamplar dps
    Breton magika heal/dps
    Dunmer sorc

Infact some of the very best builds endgame are from using a slightly off the beaten path approach.

Like my imperial templar, has loads of magika enchants, using sword and board and 2 hander in heavy armor.

He dishes out good dps, with good self heals, along side great stamina dps and self heals. I can tank 5-6 players in pvp for a good couple of minutes on my own, and normally take 2-3 of them before I go down.

    Depends how you combine them..

Argonian's healing taken passive + Argonian's max health passive = potentially strongest dragon blood heal than any other race
Argonian's healing taken passive + DK's other healing taken bonus = tank that make the healer's job easy
Argonian's disease resistance + werewolf disease weakness = u know

Breton magicka passive + cost reduction = most efficient mana/health ratio or mana/damage ratio in healing/damage
Breton magicka passive = good for both survivability and damage (and sometimes support)
Breton spell resistance + DK/templar spell resistance = easy way to reach cap or overcap spell resistance

    and many more of course...

I once concept a closed loop selfhealing build -> max health + healing taken + cost reduction + desert rose
the build aim is to get coagulated blood magicka to health ratio to about 1:8, so if we combine with desert rose basically we have unlimited resource for coagulated blood.
and it's achievable with argonian DK (before, now in 1.7 it's impossible due to -50% healing debuff)

if we talk about selfhealing alone, normally argonian healing taken is better due to breton's max magicka only boost "some part" of healing effectiveness (other part is spell damage)
But, at the end game with ton of champion bonus, (if both of race stack magicka and healing taken bonus as much as possible), breton's magicka passive alone can surpasses argonian healing taken.

this due to how magicka passive and healing taken stack with other bonus.
% max magicka passive bonus is very rare compared to % healing taken passive bonus.
Since same category bonus stack additively, let's say we have build that (aside from racial bonus) have 10% bonus to max magicka and 30% bonus to healing taken.
Breton will add change to max magicka from 110% to 120% = 9% overall increase
Argonian will add change to healing taken from 130% to 139% = 6.9% overall increase

At the very end game (very high cp), because % max magicka and champion bonus stack multiplicatively, breton (and altmer) can potentially always choose normal max magicka set over normal spell damage set
champion bonus to attributes is up to about +50% max attributes, combine with 20% max magicka bonus from breton racial and other bonus, it'll be about 80% bonus to max magicka.
At other hand spell damage bonus only increase from major in minor sorcery, (total about +25% bonus to spell damage)

    129 spell damage = 129*10.46*1.25= 1686 magicka
    945 magicka = 945*1.5*1.2 = 1701 magicka

not mention more magicka means you're spam your skill longer = more overall dps/hps or more burst

of course there's many exception since there's many combination bonus from certain sets/skill/passive, like expert mage, bound aegis, horn, necropotence, molag kena, etc

    TDLR;
Most magicka self healing build = Breton
Some specific tanky self healing build (like Coagulated Blood DK) = Argonian
