VR16 CP Grinding Tips

I love grinding! To me it is a cool part of the game just the same way I like running sewers, group dungeons, cyro PVP and completing everything in PVE. The CP system is great for a person like me: I probably only have about 10 hours to play per week (real life grinding...) so I have a good 10 years of grinding to go, huray! Having said that, I only love grinding for a purpose and I like to max my XP per hour. A few of my own observations:

- You need the XP add-ons, without you are flying blind
- Zombie grind worked best for me. Not the 1.2M xp I have been seeing on youtube but a decent 600K to 800K easy
- Powering through cadwell silver and gold is good but runs at max 300-400K per hour
- My wife and I grind together (true romance), rings of mara dont work for us. Loss of DPS and kill speed cancels out the small XP boost. This cannot be how ZOS intended it. Either boost it or make it a costume style item that doesnt kill off a slot
- Zombie grind stops being effective after V12
- There is no real alternative for zombies after V12, the cyro grind spots are too risky and getting killed slows the grind too much
- Sewer runs are a blast but XP wise I cannot get it running harder than 200-300K per hour
- DSA is great for XP but the time wasted in getting a group together makes it ineffective as an XP grind. Same goes for pledges and other group content. Still do them for fun of course.
- The crown xp boosts cost $0.70 per hour. Not a bad hourly rate for having a blast so I run those permanently and it really helps
- To complete all 3,600 CP I will spend at least $2,500 on crown xp boosters, ZOS owes me a statue somewhere in game. My wife and I already run around in the wedding outfits btw, smart move!

For me the overarching conclusion is this: max CP is reached through leveling new alts with the V1 to V12 zombie grind being the cream of the crop in terms of CP harvesting and the cadwells being fairly decent too.

Any tips for an old coffee grinder like me? I know we are afraid of ZOS grind spot nerfs so feel free to keep your tips generic or PM me either here or in-game.

My number one request for ZOS: fix the group finder! With playing time of max 1.5 hours a day I cannot wait 30 mins to get a good dungeon group together. Yes, i know: my guild and in game friends should be there for me but even with 5 active guilds its still hard to put a quick group together. The best fun this game has to offer is in effective and balanced groups so FIX THIS FIRST in your otherwise awesome game! PM me for the design of my in-game statue once I reach the $2,500 mark!!

Didn't they nerf the zombie grind?

Have you tried IC sewers grind yet? It seems like good xp but I admit I have not been paying to close attention to xp. There is the chance to be killed in pvp, but doing it close to your base reduces that risk and mitigates the time lost when you are killed.

    Tip #1

Buy your xp pots from the guild store.

There's no need to spend $$. Especially with all the mats you'll get from.grinding. I pay for xp pots and still make tons of gold when grinding.

Quick question about the XP numbers you are talking about. Are you talking about:

    1. Enlightened CP xp + 50% boost
    2. Enlightened CP xp
    3. generic xp + 50% boost
    4. generic xp

they will cap the amount of cp you can earn over a specific time period. so if its 200/ week it should be still interesting how to get the most out of a grind run ^

It probably wont be 200/week. I think, they said, something closer to 400 CPs per DLC or something like that, don't remember..

Nah, the grinding is pretty limited seeing how much ZoS likes to nerf grinding spots. Because the only legit way to level is by questing, of course!

They did build you a statue, but then they lost it. It won't get fixed until Morrowind.

I agree with you about the Ring of Mara. For being a paid item it is more detriment than good, and it is really a shame you can't at least enchant it.

Has anyone tried grinding a new VR1 since update 7? Is doing the quests in Cadwell's silver/gold now a comparable xp generator - is it worth it? Are public dungeons now a good grind location? Does Craglorn give good xp? Basically, is there any way to get good xp now besides mindlessly grinding mobs?

Ok apparently they said it in an ESO live, but i saw it here

Lambert posted his usual "/lurk" (if you take that seriously).. So i guess we'll see something like that, at some point, with an other form or not at all? I really don't know..

No real tips so far but thanks for the discussion:

    - I am still running enlightened, probably because I was away from ESO for some 10 minths, the numbers I posted though are vexp earned towards leveling my alt while running mara so not impacted by enlightenment if I understand that mechanism correctly.
    - Zombie grind is in Alkir, youtube or google search it. It may have been nerfed but the numbers I posted are from this week.
    - I run IC sewers a lot but I cant raise decent CP xp there with my V16 main even though I know everyone says its such an XP fest. I dont see it, groups are too big, and I get nowhere near the volume of kills needed to rival zombies with an V1 to V12 alt. I got probably 20 hours into IC by now and ran a lot of different groups so its not for lack of trying. IC is great fun and a great money maker, more than 400K in gold after selling all V15 mats I found since launch. Betting heavily on prices coming down hard in a few weeks and then I will V16 some gear.
    - The cap on CPs per season or DLC is not a bad idea. Wont impact me either way, I cant throw that much time at it to reach the CP cap. I am only at 115 CP now...
    - Stop complaining about the grind. Expecting ESO to be Skyrim gone mass player is naive! Its an MMO, different game mechanics and different gamer mentality. People push themselves psychologically to join the rat race vs their fellow players instead of enjoying the actual game and playing the game for its content. Not the fault of ZOS, more a problem every single MMO will always have...

Does no one have actual tips for fast V16 CP accumulation? So far my opinion remains that power leveling alts is the fastest.

I did get some decent exp on cyrodill... I think that after V12 it's the only viable place to grind!

I prefer Elder Scrolls: Grind Quest

On a side note, I'll sell my Xbox One and quit gaming long before I consider spending $2500 on virtual items, but to each his own.

wish there were some better tips here for xp grinding for cp at v16. That being said, doing the daily IC quests, especially enlightened, will gain you a CP. Grinding IC mobs is probably the fastest way for v16 got gain CP. Cracked Wood Cave is still viable, so is Newt Cave in IC, and no one goes in there.

I would like to know a good room for a good and easy XP grind rotation in the EP sewers.

Lol at Cyrodiil spots being too risky. I used three different delves to grind from VR9 to VR15 on an alt just last week. I saw no other players that whole entire time. Zero. Most people don't realize that you can grind in more than half of the Cyrodiil delves. Just find an empty one and go to town.

I found what amounts to an outdoor gazebo filled with goblins that respawn quickly. Its south of where EP enters Cyrodiil, far from any populated routes. Ive never been disturbed by a ganker and its an outdoor grind spot.
