Are they still good? was reading the IC big patch notes, noticed alot of changes for that build, lightning staff buff also.

Sorcs good? magicka only.

I was reading through and im not sure what some of the changes mean.

Storm atronach prefers to demolish one enemy? What is this demolish and what does prefer mean in reference? Will it reluctantly demolish others?

Removing Monarchs tail clip? Does that mean less attacks from it? Does it still have an attack?

The rest meh. Cool made the other ward heal... um meh, maybe suppose to kinda counter shieldbreaker?

The curse now makes your pets do even more damage, but meh on that (esp in PvE)

I guess they can crit more.

I don't see all that much of a change for Pet Builds but more questions than answers

Critting ALOT more, not just a bit more, they gain any crit enhancing buff that I get, also lightning staff heavy can crit now. so if you add it all up that is some brutal persistent damage.

I don't care about pvp but for pve the build seems strong, the 55% dmg buff from daedric curse (was 20-25%) is big on single target hard mobs combined with the pets higher crit rate.

If you stack crit and aim for the right build i'm pretty sure pet spec would do great pve dmg,

The changes look pretty promising. I'm just putting the final touches on my new gear, then I'll be able to do some runs to figure out what works best. I plan to update my pet build in the coming weeks.

But why? I mean before the changes Pet builds already dominated PvE (as do many builds) the only area where you need to performing at optimal is PvP.

Ill still follow how yor builds turn out.

Any clue on Preferred in reference to stormy? Also what about monarchs attack loss?

My only real beef with my Sorc/Pet build (on console) is that there is no function for ordering your pets to attack. It's a bit irritating that I have to draw the aggro in order for my pets to know that they should be doing their duty.

I have the opposite problem... a particular winged twilight that has been known to flit down the hall and start a fight with monsters/npcs. Apparently she's easily bored.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

The change to curse and the ward has effectively killed pet build on console due to no per command button. Flawless game design by the devs. They are seriously a case study in ineptitude

From my limited testing pets seem to target your target, and sometimes they fight whatever they want, I actually heard from deltia there is a way to control your pets with Shift clicks or control clicks, or something, if you spend the time to figure it out I'm sure you can get the pets to follow your orders better, on pc not sure about console.

How did the curse change hurt pet spec? didnt it get a 35% dmg buff?

Run mage light and stack crit as high as you can and do some dmg parses to see what works best for you and your gear,

not saying it's the best sorc spec possible but if you want some meat sheilds between you and mobs rather than being the punching bag for a thousand hours,,, then this is your choice and with the new gear I'm sure it can do very decent numbers in the new dungeons.

If anyone knows how to control or order the pets around please tell people because I'm sure it would help people.

The default key to command your pets to attack something is to press 'Y' and left click the target. To stop your pets from attacking monsters, press 'Y' and right click.

Yeah that's PC and not available in console (i remember a friend mentioning that)

Yeah I can see where curse could use a command... that would actually be playable

Playing in IC my pets die quite fast, even clanfear. I feel they need to add a healing mechanic to the damage we do to our pets to help them survive a bit like with the expert summoner passive.

I don't particularly like pets because its a toggle and requires to be on all weapon bars which is incredibly limiting to other options. Actually I hate toggles and find the design redundant now.

Also the damage they do isn't worthwhile either, even with Daedric prey. My winged twilight dies incredible fast which I think is a problem since it doesn't really do better damage either.

Atronach is the only worthwhile pet.

I guess the problem with pets is that ZoS has turned them into a swarm mechanic rather then a function. Clanfear should be a hefty tank with a gap closer and some bleeds, Winged twilight needs to do more then just zap mobs like a bug zapper, and the scamp should do some AoE casting spells.

I really don't see them as pets as more disposable spells.

I'm talking about on console. Because they took away damage bonus from the ward which gave your pets some utility in mob situations where there isn't a single target to curse then pet builds lose a significant anount of dps (like 30%). They're still obviously decent for single target bosses but that's pretty much it.

Point being that the pet build on console took a huge dps loss. Between this, the stam regen and roll dodge nerf, and shield nerf then it seems obvious to me that the devs have completely forgotten to take into account the discrepancies between console and pc in terms of utility (add ons), mechanics, and champion points. It took me a grand total of 5 minutes to see the problems in their logic from the release of patch notes and yet they're being paid for their ineptitude.

On the subject of worthwhile pets, I disagree. There have been dungeons where the presence of the clannfear has saved the group because enemies have an extra one of us to target. And the magicka regen the twilight offers has been great for me as the group healer. A party of 6+ is definitely better than 4, IMO.

I can't comment on pet health in IC since it hasn't hit consoles yet, but a healing mechanic or a better pet shield would be great. I also agree that pets should have more function to them rather just 1 or 2 mechanics.

Dont forget when you have skill bars and dpsing. you can only use 1 attack at a time per GCD. So really when you have multi skill slots filled that are doing damage outside your GCD you are actually doing MORE damage. Does this limit your options of attacks? Yes. But does it lower your damage? No. But thats also why your pets have a utility outside their basic setup. like volatile familiar exploding etc. If all you do is stack crit and run crystal frags ( with soulshine set or something) You should be fine to run pets/Inner light and frags and curse and do quite a lot of damage. The most major downside to this is your 2nd bar needs to have the pets too :( which i think needs to be fixed. The pets should last 5 seconds with a bar switch before poofing. As to not gimp the sorcer for picking a pet build while everyone else and their mother gets 2 full bars. As for their direction on console fine you cant which does kind of suck but at the same time pets can tank mobs as well which only helps the healer. You could always use spider web spam and spit out tons of spiders ontop of your pets. While they dont survive well vs aoes you can get quite a few out if people actually use the synergy. Netting you a lot of pets running around. while also CCing.
