Stamina nightblades - Imperial City

So this goes out to the PC players that are already in IC. How are you stamina nightblades coming along? Have you been tempted to respec magicka yet? Or are you still able to drop people like flys, even with the damage reduction... Just curious.

I had to balance weapon damage and stamina regen. I'm now back where I was prior to IC patch and hitting just as hard (almost) and actually with a little more regeneration.

    Loving it!

Stamina nightblades are still very powerful in IC.

Magicka is really good too now but chances are if you're really good at your ambush-wrecking blow-executioner combo then there's no need to learn how to play magicka.

I've mostly stopped playing my Stamina NB. Survivability is too low, and the damage no longer compensates for it seeing as how enemies will just heal or shield back up to full health, then wear you down.

I still do okay on my stamina blade since respeccing, but it's a pretty weak playstyle compared to the other classes.

I do want to get back on with my stam NB though and try out a few more things.

When I see a post like this it just makes me question the build. I have no issues with survivability or resource management and I'm usually the one wearing down a DK perma blocker, shield spamming sorcerer, or templar heal spammer.

I'll just throw out there with 5pc medium, 2pc heavy, (Ravager and Twice Born Star - Shadow/Serpent) using Rally and Vigor I don't have these issues. Maybe that will help some.

the only one difference - nerfed rally. Rally heal was enought before patch and now i had to put vigor on my bar also. the tactic is the same - burst dmg kill. rellfocus-rally-piercing mark-ambush-WB-soul harvest-execute still works fine.

Everything's fine with my Stamina Nightblade as well. Droped the bow after ZOS nerfed Hasty Retreat and I'm using 2h/dw now with great success. Survival is really nice with Rally and Vigor, sustain is still no issue with 3x Regen Drinks and I feel like I have answers to every opponent. Really cool.
Jeckll has quit the game. Thanks for the great time.

I love my stam nightblade in this update! Rally and vigor give me a ton of survivability together with dodge roll. For resource sustain I actually use the 15 second buff siphoning strikes, so I never run out.

Duels are also really fun. I often run into the ol' oneshot NB's, but I often can counter their burst and out-sustain them in the longer fights. I can now also finally duel sorcs, especially now I have a full v16 shield breaker set ^^

PvE is also really fun with steel tornado and camo hunter. A dual wield heavy attack from stealth + camo hunter can oneshot a few mobs and some vamp players if you run into them.

I am absolutely loving the update :)

And as someone who's a little more use to magicka builds, what can you stam guys suggest to help get my speed while in sneak up? I find I terribly miss it. Went from a vamp magicka nb, to a ww stam nb and I feel slooooooow now while moving about.

ATM I'm running 5 shield breaker, 3dreugh king, 2 shodow walker rings, 2 morag tong daggers. Serpent mundus. My regen is about 1600 and still getting great damage. Eventually I'll pick up the agility set, but this is working well for me.

You have two real options for Sneak speed. Nights Silence Set or Vampire. I used to use Nights Silence and Ravager and dropped for Ravager and Twice Born Star and went Vampire.

    As for my bars -

PVP: DW - Surprise Attack, Steel Tornado, Evil Hunter, Relentless Focus, Ambush + Flawless Dawnbreaker
2H - Mass Hysteria, Rapid Maneuvers, Rally, Vigor, Dark Cloak + Reviving Barrier

PVE: DW - Surprise Attack, Steel Tornado, Evil Hunter, Killer's Blade, Ambush + Flawless Dawnbreaker
2H- Razor Caltrops, Rapid Maneuvers, Rally, Relentless Focus, Vigor + Reviving Barrier

I of course switch out some abilities depending on what I'm doing but for the most part the PvP bar above is for Imperial City.

I focus on keeping my combat bar - DW - to put out the max damage and crit I can. I always apply Rally, Relentless Focus, Evil Hunter before entering combat or re-apply as needed during combat.

Duel wielding Sharpened Maces of Agility (one with Stamina Absorb) as well in addition to the 5 Ravager, 5 Twice Born Star (shadow/serpent)

With just over 50% Crit I tested the Warrior Mundus and Shadow and found to my surprise that Shadow seems to give me higher sustained DPS.

I was VR1, when ambushed by 4 reds. Luckily, 2 of them either aggroed daedras nearby, or that group was terribly leaded, but i fought only 2 of them at the end.

I'm Imperial, with some skillpoints to health, and this new battle leveling makes my HP bar about 31k, so they couldn't bring me down.

Sadly i didn't have my soul tether ulti ready, otherwise i maybe could have killed them, since they had about 25% health.

Oh well, i couldn't kill them and decided to cloak myself away from situation.

So yes, at least i can survive with my stamina nb alone for some time.
    NB enthusiastic:
    1. Woodhippie stamblade - DW hard-hitter / PvE
    2. Know-it-all elf Magblade - Healer / PvE & PvP
    3. Hate-them-all elf Magblade - Destrostaff AoE monster / PvE
    4. Cyrodiil-Refugee stamblade - Stamina Tank / PvE

    Go dominion or go home

Nightblade-Hipster. I played Nightblade before it was cool - from 1.5 onwards.

stam nbs are still 1v1 kings, on my nb im running 5 hundings 2 engine 4 shadow walker with 1 wep dmg glyph 2 stam recovery

get that gold v16 2h mace and you will be at 3k wep dmg and 2.9k stam regen fully buffed, use shuffle and dodge roll with bow to out run your opponents

for sorcs, use the ice comet - executioner combo when you get the 4th fear or something.

Yeah I plan on fixing my build a bit more as it is still pretty similar to what it was before the patch. Hopefully with some tweaking my character will be good again, but as things are now, it is playing out very poorly.

The thing that gets me is that I have all good legendary gear and a lot of experience as a NB, yet I do better on my Stamplar with crappy v7 crafted gear that I have only been playing recently. I just don't think that speaks much for balance.

exactly my opinion as well, stamina nightblades simply cant cut it because of weak stamina skills that dont do as much damage as the other classes skills, plain and simple.

im still running DW/Bow and have points into 2H, my only problem since the new patch besides the lag and stutter has been stamina regen. I finally got vigor which helps in the heals dept. still running 5 hundlings. 4 shadow. and I added nierenth set for pve. saving up for the agility set. might replace hundlings with shieldbreaker.

Nice! Is it fair to say that Twice-Born Star is worth it in the new meta?

And I have a drink-related question: for Stamina burst builds, are purple drinks the most desirable, or would blue drinks (for Stamina/Magicka regen) be a better option? I'm just wondering if health regen would benefit a DPS build since you wouldn't be stacking it otherwise.
