I played NB to VR10 and found it challenging, but rewarding. Proper preparation is needed because you're getting physical, which means you'll be taking quite a bit of damage from enemies.
Now playing a sorcerer and the play difference is like night and day. I feel so OP with this character as I rarely die and I can take out swarms of enemies without much effort. Splash damage and knock backs make it nearly impossible to get hit.
Going to be frank here: if you hate dying often in games, go sorcerer. If you want a challenge, play NB, but expect many visits to wayshrines (or keep tons of soul gems handy).
NBs at early levels don't have much attack damage and there's no healing buffs outside of potions. Plan how you want to play and stick to it, because trying to build all the skills early can come back to bite you. There's plenty of time to level the other skills, so get the ones you want early and morph them for the best attack power.
Other people won't be able to tell you what you will enjoy..... so my advice is try a nightblade for a bit... check both out and see which you prefer.
Personally I'm totally in love with my Sorc in Imperial City.... it feels like he was just perfectly designed for the whole area.
Blink
Drop mines behind you to stun people in a narrow street when you want to get away.
Stand in your mines and watch the NB's jump into them and get stunned.
Root with snare + Mines around them = 'I win'
I know a lot of people will say NB's are strong in there... which they are.... but Sorc's have very good counters to NB's (Mines, Encase) so fighting them 1 Vs1 is usually not a problem.
i have both a nb and leveling a sorc, i didnt die near as much leveling my nb as i have leveling my sorc. In pvp i tear sorc's apart the only time a sorc gets the better of me is if its alot higher level then i am.
