Backlash Skill Question

I've been searching around I haven't found a definitive answer for this, but does Backlash only store the damage that you inflict on an enemy? Or will it store the damage inflicted by a whole group of players?

    All damage dealt by you and your allies is stored. Group damage is the best way to reach the cap.

    NOT all allies, only those in your group I believe,

    I don't think this is accurate. I was solo in IC while my guild was in queue Monday. Several times I cast Purifying Light on sweepers and it ticked for the max 14k damage. I promise you it was not me dealing that much damage, and I wasn't grouped with anybody else in the battle.

    This is a brilliant skill since they updated it. The pool of healing light staying attached to the enemy and then landing on the floor only when the enemy dies is a great change. It never feels wasteful to just spam this thing on every mob in both AoE as well as single target situations. There are so many overlapping pools of light and if you can hit the cap on all your beams it's fantastic DPS. In PvP I use it to mark the target as well as announce it in Teamspeak so my friends can focus their dps.
