SHOULD WE BE ABLE TO HIDE STAFF animations?

Should we be able to equip a staff but display animations firing from our hands?

The electricity ultimate already shows the animation loop exists.
I just really want to shoot fireballs from my hands.
Any one else?

While I agree that magic should be a bit more complex and shouldn't just be projectiles from staff weapons, I don't think a hide staff option is the fix we need.

To be clear, I'm fine with staffs but hiding them and swapping in the hand spell animation would make me happy.

Perhaps they could implement a vanity or costume type of item which replaces your staff with a spellbook or something. Though they would probably need to add in some sort of animation for the fire and ice projectiles, like you said they already have lightning covered. I think it would be pretty cool to have that streak of red and yellow spouting from my fingertips for the restoration attacks.

That's really all I was asking for.
Just a magic blast instead.

I mean just turning the staff part of the animation off would probably still line up OK, but an additional hand open and blasting animation loop would be welcome.

I hadn't even thought of a magic book.

I would not recommend hiding staff. After that latest patch, you could be lynched with them, if they were found hiding at your place.

It could be a simple open hand with a magic glow or I think a fist clutching the staff is in frame when you block, so this may actually look fine with a flourish glow.

I suppose the only limit would be how much time zos wanted to spend on a niche option .

You know, I'd happily pay real money for a staff disguise that essentially did what you're suggesting.

Perhaps block could be handled by adding an "energy" staff animation...such as a bar of fire / ice / lightning / resto energy stuff.

I would adore a non staff magic option in general, any other way would be good.

I keep bringing up my hopes and dreams of some alternative weapon for destruction and restoration magic, since I find all those staves all too staffy...

I am hoping for some sort of "Spell Focus", that is a two-handed weapon just like the staves, just with different visuals and animations. Like holding the focus in your left hand, while casting your spells with mystic gestures of your right...
The foci themselves could be looking quite different depending on racian style - breton ornate spellbooks, dunmer holy symbols, altmer crystal wand, redguard holy scrolls, argonian shaman rattles, khajiit moon amulets, orc icons, nord runesticks, bosmer bone fetish, imperial red diamond replica, barbaric gemmed skull, ancient elf welkyn stone, daedric scepter, primal totem stick, dwemer spell engine, whatever...

It would also give new things to craft, enough to finally make jeweller a viable crafting selection...

It is lore friendly to shoot magical projectiles your hands. So I support this idea. I think it would look cool too. I personal hate staves.
