Bracing for inevitable nerf of Wrecking Blow

We all know it's coming. It's too powerful. The CC is too sweet. It's getting spammed. It's used by almost everybody.

So, here are some friendly, completely uninformed, and thoroughly unenlightened options for your perusal:

1) Nasal Blow: Watch with awe as your character takes a handful's snort of black pepper and unleashes a mighty sneeze, covering your enemies in sticky mucus and slowing their movement by 70%, as well as impairing them with 'Minor Slipping,' which gives them a 30% chance to fall down every 2 seconds, for 10 seconds total. Poison damage, of course.

2) Recreation Slow: Make sure no one has as much fun as they should with this beauty; turn your brilliantly shined two-hander to the sun, blinding your opponent and forcing them to forget two random abilities on their bar, rotated every 3 seconds for 15 seconds. Small amount of Sun Damage, really not worth mentioning. Wish I hadn't, I apologize. Since this is so powerful, we need a balance, so casting character takes 15% of their HP in damage every 2 seconds for 10 seconds. Hope you brought some potions!

3) Wrecker Tow: Embrace your inner desire to be a tow-truck operator with this lovely! Using a similar animation in the DK's Fiery Grip, watch as your character sprouts a chain from their back, snags the enemy, and over the next 30 seconds, painstakingly drags the reluctant enemy to your feet. Accompanied by grating, cacophonous sound effects, obviously! Inflicts "Minor Abrading" which is slight physical damage from the hauling. Both players are immune to all other attacks.

Let's make Wrecking Blow's awesomeness only a fond memory, and soon!!

I seriously doubt Wrecking Blow will get nerfed, it's not like it is too powerful (spells like Crystal Fragments are much stronger), it's just that it is the only available option left for stamina builds. In the past they could use other offensive skills because they could combine those with dodge and block, but not anymore.

If you don't have any defense (block/dodge nerf), your only option is to spam your strongest offensive skill and hope you win.

The last thing stamina builds need is another nerf, especially one to their only viable offensive skill, stamina builds need some kind of significant buff to somewhat offset the massive nerfs.

I hope you're right, but those are famous last words...:)

Indeed, but not meant to be derisive to the second comment on the thread, just had to make me laugh when I read the patch note.

I'm not worried about the change myself, I prefer to use Stonefist to knock down an opponent and the WB for the empower anyway; but as with any move that gets completely changed/nerfed, there will be those who loved it and be very disappointed. Which I empathize with greatly.

This is the worst nerf I've seen... many skills are way more OP than this, I don't even see the purpose of the 2H without it and I just tried...

So we went from "2h is too much better and diverse and nobody plays any other melee skill" to "cant see any purpose in 2h" in just one playtest day?

    Wow!!!

    Wonder what tomorrow will bring.

I am so excited, edge of seat.

I guess it depends on your perspective.

If WB to you was only "2h skill that provides damage and a knock down" then little will change and you will simply change to the other morph.

If WB to you was "2h skill that provides damage and a knock down and hit for 20 percent more when spammed" then yes you should accept that it was a significant nerf. Justified in my opinion.

No, but it gets the CC which is what I use it for. Probably most people will use DS for PvP and WB for PvE since bosses are immune to knockback anyway.

Unless they are also removing the knockback and stun from the base skill (Uppercut) ZOS will have created a morph that is worse than the skill it is supposed to improve upon. At least IMO, I'd rather have the knockback and stun than a 20% damage boost on a single attack (that might miss or be dodged).

    Basically base wb hits Hard

Dizzying swing - Uppercut with a CC
Wrecking Blow - Uppercut with an empower

So people have a choice, more dps or a cc.

I've never really utilized wrecking blow in pvp, I always swap it for surprise attack. In PvE, the knockback is nice for trash mobs that can survive more than one hit, but most bosses or tougher enemies you fight are immune to the knockback anyways, so the change wont be all that big a deal. I'll still be going with the wrecking blow morph for the empower, as it provides significantly more damage output in pve.

This is barely a nerf you just need to choose between cc and empower now, it's still going to hit just as hard as before.
