Fullscreen seemed to fix my lag issue

Last night before heading off to bed, a friend of mine randomly switched his view mode from windowed to fullscreen. POOF, all his lag went away. I decided to do the same thing and lo and behold, going from windowed mode to fullscreen seemed to have helped my lag issue.
Now, I haven't really tested it out for extensive periods of time to see if the lag completely went away, but I'm wondering if anyone else noticed this?
