How Do You Play?

Since the IC release, PVP vs PVE arguments have been unrelenting. I thought it would be interesting to see how many in each camp. When you log on, what is your main purpose/playing style?

I do a little bit of everything, PvP in IC/Cyrodiil(this includes daily IC quests), daily Pledges, ran White Gold Tower and Imperial Prison today, and now doing a bit of crafting since I've collected enough new mats to make another new shiny toy

im doing IC for XP and to get mats, no other way around it. also doing trials, writs, and pledges when times allows. just not enough hours in the day.

I sorta thought about that, figured "other" was a good way to let folks explain their style of play. TBH I'm a bit of mixed bag with my play, but Questing is what I enjoy the most.

I mainly play PVP, but I do enjoy a bit of PVE for a change of pace, and I also craft all my own gear, and sometimes get on a bit of a trading kick using guild traders.

I dont play. Game has been stagnant for almost a year now on any PVE content. I uninstalled last month finally got tired of waiting. Might reinstall if orsinium comes out before another MMO grabs my interest.

Yup, know that feeling. I've reverted to Skyrim while waiting to see if zos can actually fix what they've broken.

PVE - Quests

I would like to do more PvE quests - I like to take the missions slow and steady, listen to the dialog make choices, explore and plan in my own time and not die.

However right now I am feeling like I have to PvP to get the loot, gear and XP plus I know its sad I want a decent title.

I choose other, because I tend to do a mixture of the options listed. I prefer to spend my time playing solo, and doing things like crafting, harvesting crafting materials, and questing. Then, only if extremely bored will I go and PVP. And even then, it's usually a toss-up of whether or not I go into the Imperial City or focus on other PVP-based things.

I mainly do PvE quests with a lot of aimlessly wandering around because I get distracted by anything I think might be interesting.

But I've done some PvP and intend to do more later and I don't mind maps which combine both, as long as I know that's the case when I enter them and have the option of going elsewhere.

I mostly roleplay with others in a roleplay guild. For me it's the most interesting and challenging thing to do. The actual gameplay (PVE and PVP) in this game is too easy and casual for me and just bores me. I also don't care about leveling up. When I have to level up I do a bit of crafting, group dungeons, and PVE quests.

PVE of all sorts. Crafting and generally giving. The trading thing is not really my bag.

Generally, I like exploring. I always make sure I map out the edges of all maps in any game, be it TES (or TES affiliates) or any other game.

It's the "What's over that hill? ooo, another hill. Whats over that hill?" thing that I enjoy most

Questing, crafting and trading all the way. I could only select one, but I do all of those regularly.

I don't have any interest in PvP or running the same dungeons over and over.

And when I'm on, then in PvE land, no IC installed, no standard PvP, just PvE. Over and over again. Until I die. Or until all my characters have done everything they can as a single PvE player. I guess the latter is the most likely.

I think this poll should go hand-in-hand with this other poll asking about PvP/PvE Group/Solo preferences.

Since I continuously create new characters trying to find a combination that I could really enjoy in a long-term sense, I find myself always doing quests.

All of the options.. pre-IC on an average day I would:

- Log in.
- Writs (all 6) while having breakfast.
- Go and work for far too many hours (boo!).
- Pick up Pledges in case a guild group is available when I am free to do them - probably do a gold every other day give or take.
- Spend anything up to a couple of hours gathering materials for craft and for sale which means 3-4 runs of a route. Break down mats and list spares in guild stores.
- Probably gain at least a CP while doing that.
- Head into PvP either solo or with my guildies and PvP until my wife tells me to stop playing and get ready for bed.
- If my guild is running a trials evening, which they do a couple of nights most weeks, then I will sign up for that and then PvP after.

Post IC I'm not really sure since craft runs are now giving near zero XP, Cyrodiil PvP is dead, IC is not that much fun once I realised it is just zergs, running round the bit of the sewers nearest your base killing mobs or gank groups camping quest objectives..... so not sure yet.

I do agree with the OP that there is a PvP vs PvE player vibe that never really existed prior to IC - as I have said elsewhere this DLC has created hate where it did not exist before, a design strategy that Molag Bal/Satan/<insert culturally relevant evil deity here> would have been proud of...

I'm on console, so we're still a tad away from the update. I'm taking that time to level a new character. Normally I focus on PvP with my guild.

First thing I do is fill my trader slots, farming for mats if necessary. I'll then do a little questing followed by the daily pledges. After that I go into cyrodil if friends are or go back to questing. I typically take a half hour or so of each session for fishing and craft all my armor and weapons every veteran level.
