Sorc vs NB New Patch

Hey all,

Trying to decide between my sorc or my nb for the new patch. My nb is currently stam, which is probably finish be ranks with, then change to magicka, my sorc is magicka based.

Any opinions pve dps, and pvp wise on these 2 classes?

Anyone in a similar dilemma?

Thanks!

I'd personally go NB in PVE, but PVP is a bit of a toss up and will depend on your personal playstyle.

Magicka nightblades got buffed with the several fixes and a few actual buffs. Their sustain got better, which makes them a better choice than Sorc for DPS in PVE. The changes to cloak make them a good choice for PVP as well with their survivability skills, even though they are not as bursty as stamina NBs.

Stamina NBs got hit pretty hard with the changes to dodge roll and block, so they will be harder to play successfully (though of course it is still viable).

Sorc is still pretty rough in the PVE department. They got some buffs for pet based builds and their sustainability improved a little. However, they are still a more bursty class (not as bursty as stamina NBs) and the lack of sustainability makes it difficult for them to reach the high DPS numbers.

For Sorc PVP, they are a little more bursty than magicka NBs (less than stamina NBs), but they also have more survivability than stamina NBs. Because of those reasons, Sorcs are still a strong PVP class choice.

To run a bit off topic, I've very recently read that stamina DKs might be the powerhouse class in PVP right now. I can't comment confidently on that because its so recent and it might just be hype over a couple people doing it really well in some videos. But it might be worth investigating if you're looking for a class with decent PVE and strong PVP if the rumors are in fact true.

I have a both maxed leveled Stam nb and a magic sorcerer. I've always done more dps with my sorcerer in pve than my nb. As far as sustainability for sorcerers. I rarely run out of Mana, I do have elemental drain on my back bar. That also makes my damage increase alot and returns Mana as well. If the healer in group can run else drain for me. My back bar is dw for the spell power increase cause my back bar has my execute ability on it. I will say that depending on what content I am gonna run will determine which toon I role. Some shine more than others in different scenarios. I have 4 maxed dps toons I can choose from for that reason.

As pvp goes. Depending if I want to run with a gang group I go nb, if I'm doing a large group keep runs I like my sorcerer. Although I can do pretty well gawking with my sorcerer as well. But my nb is more proficient at that especially with medium gear on helps with the constant sneaking.

All in all, it depends on your play style. I may be aa title bias because I've always played as a sorcerer on every elder scrolls game and my sorcerer was my first toon in eso as well. If you can level both sorcerer and nb. Do so. If not, choose which toon you enjoy playing best. They both offer similar dps Imo. To me having fun trumps top dps. That's why even when sorcerers dps was crap when game launch I still used it as my main. Once I learned how to use my sorcerer I was actually able to keep up with some other people with "high dps builds". Sure they still did more than me but I wasn't far behind and I was still even to make leaderboards with my sorcerer.

Hope this helps....... Best of luck with whatever you choose to run, and most importantly have fun

Gotcha thanks for the insight! I'm almost vr1 with the nb so I'm going to finish leveling it up to see which way I'd like to go in the future.
