I know a lot of people like to take a dump on World of Warcraft for catering so much to the 'casual' market but take a step back for a moment and realise that WoW is a Decade old and STILL the #1 MMO in the world today.
Yes, we can boast about 'harder to play' MMOs being more for the 'gamer' and there's been quite a few over the years that were all touted as the next 'wow killer' and yet, every single one of them failed to take the crown.
Step back for a moment and ask yourselves why that is.

We asked for many things as indicated in OPs good post, we never got them.
