I know a lot of people like to take a dump on World of Warcraft for catering so much to the 'casual' market but take a step back for a moment and realise that WoW is a Decade old and STILL the #1 MMO in the world today.

Yes, we can boast about 'harder to play' MMOs being more for the 'gamer' and there's been quite a few over the years that were all touted as the next 'wow killer' and yet, every single one of them failed to take the crown.

Step back for a moment and ask yourselves why that is.

Because the other games are not World of Warcraft. Seriously. WoW is successful with WoW players because it is WoW. As a former WoW player, you already know this. As a former WoW player, I know this. Blizzard knows this. I am pretty sure that ZOS knows this.

No one is going to make a WoW killer. No one is trying to make a WoW killer. The people who like to talk about WoW killers write articles for websites. The only WoW killer worth mentioning is Blizzard.

The MMORPG market is not a zero sum market. Some other game does not have to lose 10 players when ESO gains 10 players. ZOS does not have to troll the other MMOs scalping players. ZOS does not have to kill WoW. ESO and WoW can happily co-exist, right along with all of the other MMOs. To be successful, they merely have to attract a core demographic that will sustain the game and then hold onto them.

This is why I preach the Gospel of the Elder Scrolls. The Elder Scrolls players are part of the core demographic, and not a part to be lightly ignored. They require feeding, attention, and long walks on a moonlit beach.

I honestly think the day we went buy 2 play is the day any "casual" elements of the game evaporated... and we wont see them again. Its grind city for everything as has been proven with every single update since b2p.

Text chat is needed for console. I'm sick of playing without it.

This game decayed so much by catering to the "casuals", they rather should revert what they did already to cater for them and stop doing it aswell

Enjoy your elitist-only game dwindle to a few hundred players and get shutdown after a couple of months.

Oh you must mean like the way it almost did after launching casual scrolls?
Actually this game couldn't carry a sub fee and survive by catering to the casuals!
Trying to be "Casual Scrolls Online" is what has gotten ZOS into the mess they are in right now lol.

Dwindle to a few hundred you say?
Nah.... If anything Never Winters numbers are better than ESOs right now and that game does require quite a bit of grind/dedication to make any headway at all.

So please do enlighten us as to how continuing to turn ESO into "Babies First MMO" is helping the long term health of it? It already failed as a SUB fee MMO. and now the numbers on console are horrendous as of late.

You call us elitist mindset we call you entitled "Want everything for little to no effort"!
The war rages on I guess.. Keep up the good fight. Soon we will all be the same class and we will all have 100 HP's and every weapon/spell will deal 2 dmg. I guess that will keep all of the big bad elitist from every getting ahead of the casuals!

I love this game, but if things continue to be watered down people are going to leave. The same people that said "No to elitist lets make the game easier" said the same thing about W0W and after it was made easier and the welfare gear drops were handed out guess what?

They left the game and said W0W sux..I am bored with it! It is too easy I am out..

Fair dinkum...much hate for casuals gamers in here. Ibdont know why or how you guys claim that Zos have already ruined the game catering casuals. I bet no casuals are saying this.

As a casual player, every decision made since B2P has made me cringe.

XP boosters, far easier to get for multi tooned hardcore....practically impossible for a one toon casual to get without purchasing them (Or several years of top level writs)

The CP system is no good for casuals. They saybtheyre working on it, but its gonna be a long tine before we see cp free campaigns (if ever).

Those special bind on pickup sets are just a pipe dream for many casuals.

Fragmented items...yeah...years to get without buying them from hardcore players.

To say this game caters too heavily to casuals already is just proof you are not a casual. Don't get so upset when you see threads like this, because so far the threads I have seen raise real casual gamer concerns have had ZERO impact on this game.
Ask not what your sweetroll can do for you....

No longer play but have kept game on PC waiting to see if they bring back something for casual players.

We asked for housing, they didn't give it us
We asked for character customisation/barber, they didn't give it us
We asked for many things as indicated in OPs good post, we never got them.

They ask for my money, I'm not giving them any.

They are currently working on it. Develloping new features takes TIME. Imperial City is something they were working on BEFORE the release of the game. Are you even following the news sometimes? Maybe before to whine, it would be smart to stay informed.

Also..Orsinium is coming soon. That patch will certainly be amazing for casual players and/or players that enjoy LORE. It's a new zone with plenty of quest and stories.

Pity there is no such thing as difficulty setting on this game in certain dungeons under veteran levels.

I have a hard time soloing now and the patch hasn't dropped yet. I'm casual bordering on leaving this game. I don't have the luxury of falling into groups like some folks can.

I think the content should have difficulty levels that the gamer can choose between, that way you cater to all gamer styles.
    EU PS4 Megaserver
    VR16 Sorc - Daggerfall - Magic Build
    VR16 Nightblade - Daggerfall - Stamina Build

PS4 Guild: Illuminati Gaming for the over 30's is not a myth.
