There are PVP players exploiting a mechanic in the Arena District quest. "The Watcher In the Walls"

So what happens is when your faction in caged in the Arena fighting the 3 boss waves, another alliance member - while they shouldn't be able to enter when you are in the midst of a battle - are able to do so and they wait until you are weak and they kill you.

I have taken a screenshot of the Blue player that did it to my 3 person team this evening. We beat the Clanfear and were working on Uzzai when this happened.

These type of exploits should not be happening and should not be allowing players to get away with it. This SHOULD have been caught on PTS and fixed before live release.


Not sure what the guy thought he was going to get because I always tell my group not to take any Tel Var stones with them when doing any quests, just ignore them and avoid mobs and just do what you have to and that our goals are the rewards at the end not the piddly stuff in between.

Mods, I have a screen shot of the player that did this, if you want it let me know.. He immediately logged out after killing us three and told the team mate in a private message that he intends to do this again.

    Are you positively sure that this player actually entered during the boss fight or is it possible that he entered in between the waves and just hid inside waiting for you to engage?

    I've got in to the Arena before when others are in there from another faction.

    yeah i'm sure there is an achievement to kill 100 players inside the arena so I think this is intended.

    He wasn't there during the first wave and not during halfway through the second wave of enemies. We had Uzzai down to less than half health when he appeared and he appeared from the gate.

    I did this quest with another group earlier and the gate would not open between enemy waves, you couldn't even click on it until the other faction was finished and beat all 3 bosses.

    Had this happen to me yesterday too, but I think it's intended ... all of those district quests can be interrupted by enemy players.

    The Arena is somehow bugged, yesterday i and 2 of my Group where able to join the Arena while 6 Tomatos where fighting the Boss, we wiped them, well mostly the Boss :) and some Smurfs joined and whiped us.
    After noone was able to joine the Arena and all alliance just left Arena district

    If it was intended though, would you not think that a whole alliance group of players would be able to rush in to the Arena?

    Again, yesterday (not last night) when I did this with another group, when the Reds were in the Arena battling, no one in our group was able to click on the door to get in. We couldn't interact with the door until AFTER the red team was finished killing all 3 bosses.

    So I do not think this was intended.

    Strange. I'm sure it's not possible to simply enter the arena during a fight, since I couldn't do so even to reach my group (who were battling inside) until after the fight. It may be worth taking a good look at it and check for bugs.

    In any case, if you have the time to spare, make sure you drop caltrops around the entry gate. That way, anyone incoming will be put in combat and can't open the door. Just make sure the caltrops don't run out during the boss fight.

    Or, have a nicely sized group stealth in there, have some engage the boss, and jump any and all enemy while they're stuck in the door. Tasty AP.

    The real exploit is that you can stop people from entering when you drop caltrops around the door- this is wrong as it stops other alliances from entering.

    You cannot enter the door(s) when you are in combat. When I am not in combat I can enter and leave the arena when I please. I did it many times and am pretty sure it is not an exploit. Yes, I am also blue, but not the blue you mentioned. But also I saw reds and yellows do it. It was a mixed salad.

    pretty sure this is intended. back in time, long before IC, eso lives promised an arena in IC where enemy players can come it at any time and mess with you. while the current arena district is pretty disappointing w.r.t. what i imagined (limitted #players of own alliance, actually hard fights with boss ress-mechanics and not this zerg-the-boss-down), i guess enemies entering at any time is exactly what was intended

    I was wondering why a DC came inside the arena between bosses once, while I was in there with a team of AD, I am almost always in stealth, so once I saw him I started attacking him and then the rest followed suit.

    He died.

    Will remember that they can come in for the future..

    I think its kinda stupid to make an achievement for killing 100 players in a single quest area, many groups are just farming inside the arena.

    @Nebthet78 It is intended. Anyone can enter as long as you are not in combat.Most times, regardless if your faction or another faction is fighting or in between waves, you approach the gate after you've been fighting outside and the in-combat is preventing you entering. Takes 3-5 minutes in stealth to get out of it (even an invisible pot doesn't really work to get you out of combat).

    The other night we were having a problem like this. Exiting/leaving wasn't the issue that concerned particularity me. Problem was the AD guys were using invisible pots, hiding behind the rock formations on the ground on one side and rezzing people on the opposite side. You could see the "lifeline" or whatever it is going all the way across. There was always one guy perma invisible that kept rezzing 5-6 ADs. One such AD was going into WW form and zipping across the area.

    You realize ANYONE can enter the arena as long as they are NOT in combt. You were in combat so you couldn't leave. Such nonsense to scream exploit.......you must be one of those people who screams exploit when you can't get through a healing ward before it heals someone huh :)

    Little secret for ya. Throw down caltrops by the entrance to the arena and keep them there. Boom. No one can mess with you since they would be in combat and fail to use the door.

    Now you know how to prevent people from coming in. Thank me later :)

    Oh c'mon this is just fun.

    Happend us earlier today, we was 5ish EP in the arena while a DC DK apeared two times. Felt like a gladiator arena with monsters and enemies.

    He died ofcourse, and he died as a brave man <3

    I just don't even bother with the arena because of the game's craptacular in combat mechanic. If you can make it in, chances are someone in your group is in combat and can't, or vise versa. See some reds on the other side of the door and you want your group to all leave at the same time so you can kill them? You'll probably get a small trickle of your group members to leave at first, they'll die because they're overwhelmed, you'll all waste your time waiting to get the rest of the group out of combat so a few more can go through the door and die, and then you don't have enough numbers to challenge the now larger group outside the door. What an awful mechanic. Oh, and if any of this were outside in regular Cyrodiil, your mounts would be on a siesta as per the usual.

    It's probably not a bug. It would be nice to know the workings of this though as how many people are allowed in there total.

    I did this Arena I think Tuesday night and it was a blast. Don't quote me but I think it allows up to 6 players in there as I think we had 4 AD and then 2 blue. It probably lets others in as people die and release out of the arena. As we killed the blue's in there, once they were gone a couple reds would trickle in.

    This happened to my group on the PTS, except it was one Dominion player and they got murdered. Tried to kill the tank first. Tsk. Tsk. I get the feeling that it's an intended function because of the way it's structured. Your inability to get in might be the actual bug. Using Caltrops on the door is certainly a solution to prevent this from happening, but I do wonder if that's not also a bug or an exploit.

    So much of Cyrodil's PvE content is designed to bring you into contact with enemy players. I can only assume the same design philosophy is at play here where they seem to want you to fight the mobs and the players. I suppose it really depends on which one is considered more of a road hazard.

    As my guild mate replied earlier, believe it was intended as there is an achievement for 100 kills of enemy players in the Arena.

    Not a bug or exploit, happens all the time. Yesterday we let the knife earred milk-drinker live until the fight was cleared. Adds a neat element to it.

    There's a hard cap on the number of players that can be in the arena at any one time but players from any faction are allowed to enter (as long as they aren't in combat) until that limit is reached.

    This is intended and I think it's implemented the way it is in order to have a real chaotic/free-for-all vibe to the arena. I think it's pretty awesome/fun but can definitely suck if you get ganked by another group while trying to complete it lol.

    If this is intended it is the crappiest thing ever!! Those bosses are hard enough to take on with only 3 players ... I can see outside the cage being a kill fest... but I will let others know so they know to wait to do that one until they can get into a group of 24 players.

    If they wanted to make an Achievement to kill 100 players in an arena, then they should have created a REAL Arena where you go 1v1-4v4 against other players rather than making a mechanic that allows other players gank you.

    As I said earlier, good thing I always tell my group never to carry any stones when doing any quests.. lol. Lets the enemy gain AP but not extra stones.
