Level v10 areas nerfed into the ground by design or by mistake?

So I just went into The Rift to do my usual crafting run - no grinding in small spaces just a long leisurely run from Tarengrav down to Riften where I harvest whatever I find be it mobs, herbs or cloth/wood/ore and I notice that all mobs are now giving about 1/3 of the XP they were pre-patch.

I repeat for clarity - this is not one of the mob rich grind spots this is just roaming around the area which I need to roam around to get materials for writs.

Is this a deliberate nerf to force us all to go to the, now, slightly less pathetic Craglorn where mobs are sized for groups rather than solo players or just another error in this latest patch?

If this is deliberate I start to wonder if ZOS want 'normal' players who do a bit of everything without grinding or exploiting or if they just want a couple of hundred of people who are willing to seek out some overlooked grind spot while everyone else gets screwed once again?

    No idea - not 100% sure what people consider grind spots (Riften tigers? Shor's stone?).

    But I think I see what you are getting at - have they nerfed the wrong mobs?

    don't forget if you are 4 levels over, it drops off in xp quite a bit. So if you hit v15, then v10 might have just been a natural drop off.

    Pretty much you are now 6 levels over that of the mobs.....

    Grinding in the Rift is very painful VR15+ :(

    This is the reason ZOS felt the need to add 2 more levels. The total xp is now lower to get to cap but because of the level increase, you're forced into higher level zones in order to attain that xp. Your choices are Craglorn (forced grouping and horrible xp), Cyrodiil (pvp) or IC (pvp). If you're a player that plays solo either because you prefer it or due to real life constraints, welcome to a new ridiculous grind once you hit V15.

    I also have two VR15s, but a VR3 and VR6 as well. I have switched to using the VR3 and VR6 exclusively to get a Champion Point a day until Orsinium comes out, hopefully before they hit VR15.

    This was one of the first things I thought of when V16 was announced. While it's not the only reason for V16, I can't help but think they saw this as a way to nerf those grind spots without actually nerfing them, as they were considerably higher yield than their "intended" grind spots.

    I have one VR16 and a VR15 50% to VR16......

    I tried the Rift.... awful

    I tried Craglorn..... mind numbingly boring and apparently pretty slow

    My best tip is 'censored' incase it gets nerfed but there is a way, I got 200k+ per hour with a scroll running and it was fun.....

    It also was not in Cyrodiil.........

    and the xp was the same in every area from VR1 up.

    Think about it, it's quite obvious!! >:)

    Edit:- also I did it solo so more xp is possible in a group :)

    Every change from this patch is a deliberate effort to force you to the IC. In other words, grinding the sewers seems to be the best atm (for v15-16).

    That's atrocious...most were pulling 1mil/hr pre-patch.

    They fixed all people grinding cadwell v10 zones. The Rift and Reapers were terrible but Bangkorai (people with 1k+ CP you hear about are mostly AD and grinded bangkorai) was so good. This was ingenious on their part. I didn't see this this as a side affect from the new vet levels but daamnn. Now those spots can be used specifically for prevet 14 players now.

    If you go into the IC, sewers or above ground with a small party (4 or less) and have the mindset of "I'm in this for XP and don't care if I lose Tel Var stones" then it's not that bad really. It's kind of fun actually, but just remember your there for XP only or you will rage when you get ganked in the middle of a big NPC fight by another player who takes 80% of your Tel Var stones.....

    I wonder how cadwells quest exp will work, since there's enough exp from the quest buffs + lower exp requirement to hit vr16 by the end of cadwells gold.

    So will you be forced to leave gold before you complete it? Or will the quests still give exp in the v10 gold zone when you hit vr15-16?

    As far as I can see you can still get to v14 in Cadwell but will be forced to Craglorn after that but even with the so-called buff Craglorn XP is still rubbish.

    It would be wrong to suggest that the much higher mob XP in IC is yet another attempt to force us to spend money by changing basic game mechanics (like they swore blind they would not).

    I think so much less of them as people when they do stuff like this - I'd feel dirty if I did it.

    I don't get why everyone hates Craglorn so much... Do you guys really have that much trouble with the mobs there? Soloing or even running a duo I find the area to be pretty easy.

    I think you.misunderstood me, before the patch you could hit vr13-14 once you finish gold, some finished as early as vr12 due to missing stuff.

    Now the quests in cadwell areas have been buffed by 50% exp, along side the other xp buffs and the fact each vr only require 850k now.

    What happens when you hit Vr16 in gold? I'm at vr6 just finishing the second area of silver, so at this rate with the exp buff I'll be at VR16 before I finish cadwells gold.

    Will I still get exp from the cadwells quests in the last gold zones at vr15-16? If not how is one supposed to want to finish the content without actually gaining exp from it?

    Too bad.. I wanted to see if I can reach VR16 by completing the PvE zones this time, with the previous characters I could make it to VR14(+). Well, I guess no VR16 for us PvE players then.

    I'm pretty sure it'll be easy to hit VR16 by the end of gold. I finally hit VR14 a bit ago, and was just getting started in my VR9 zone. I know people who were VR14 and even earlier in gold. With the reduced XP and the increased questing XP, I'm pretty sure people can (and will) hit VR16 by the end of gold. Although, the key word is questing. As they raised the questing XP for vet levels, they didn't raise mob XP in Caldwell silver/gold though.

    So when/if they add v18 for Orsinium, then the 66% bar will be at the V13 monsters in upper Craglorn. That leaves IC and Orsinium as pretty much it...

    Compound that, if they remove vet levels and experience falls back to pre-vet style, then players will get 0 experience for lower Craglorn and below at v18.

    I posted about this a couple of weeks ago from the perspective of gain/loss for converting vet levels to regular levels.
    Due to a typo in the system, the area was accosted by the Daedric Prince Moar Lag Brawls.

    1 * .33 * 2 = .66

    So the 100% boost will give a v15 66% instead of 33% of per Mob XP; however, the base Mob XP in the public dungeon is lower than mobs outside. (or at least was) Enjoy.

    This is ZOS way I believe of slowing down the Champion Points and leveling of characters. Stealth nerfing at its finest.

    its there fault in the first place . if they had just made it easier to gain exp or gain items in the first place people would not have to grind all thetime.
