How do I get enough incentive to level alternates...

I have 4 alternates and they're all level 3-15.

I just can't seem to play them for more than an hour because of how slow everything is.

The biggest peeve of them all is the horse training, I can't stand the super slow horse at the beginning. Another peeve would be collecting all Skyshards again (makes it even worse because of the horse)

How do you guys do it?!

One quest at a time. I love my alts. Yes, the horse is probably the worst part of it.

One thing I did that was fun for an alt was make an Orc / NB / Bow. I put sprint reduction in a few pieces and also had Night's Silence gear that let me sneak as fast as I could walk. With Veiled Strikes slotted, you get a 22% speed buff. Then with the pvp skill Rapid Maneuver I was able to sneak or sprint fast everywhere I went.

The other thing I enjoy about my alts is that I play each one differently. Stamina vs Magicka or changing weapon types etc. It keeps me learning the nuances of my build.

As far as things like skyshards and lorebooks, there are addons that make them easy to find. Unless you're on a console. Even then, "most" skyshards are near quest locations.

Sync horse upgrade time. Play on your main and upgrade everyone's horse until they get to a decent speed. Focus on one and get them to a good place. Focus on the next. The quest completion boost should help with CP gain.
Due to a typo in the system, the area was accosted by the Daedric Prince Moar Lag Brawls.

Going back to the slow horse feels like your stuck in the mud. People on foot actually pass you :o

I love making alts though. I can play through the story multiple times and still have fun, because it's a different character so it's like I'm experiencing it from a different angle. My newest toon is using way more [Intimidate] choices and no [Persuade].

Having each alt learn different craft helps too. If they don't have a craft then the have something else "special", like werewolf, vampire, fishing etc. I also never duplicate a build. When I make a 2nd toon of a given class I make the build sufficiently different so it feels/plays different.

The first step in curing "alt-itis" is admitting you have a problem...

    8 characters...one of each class...1 for stam based...and 1 magika based.

Im leveling 4 right now...the others are mules till I geth the itch...

    That never to be scratched....itch.

How did I do eight characters to at least V1? How do I keep doing it?

With patience and an inneate enjoyment of steering some character through the richly detailed world of ESO. And by not overdoing it...

These days, I grab one enlightened c-point by playing a hour or so on my current active alt, and then... if I still want to play... switch to one of my two mains and do whatever I feel like.

Though I agree, the horse is kinda vexing sometimes... if at least the horse trainings stacked like enlightment... but hey, slow and steady gets there too. And by now I have two maxed and the third almost... just... five... more... to... go... ;)

I really recommend investing in crafting and crafting good set gear for your alts. I've got a couple different stam and a couple different magicka sets starting at level 12 that I just keep on a mule until an alt is at the proper level to use it. I'm leveling 1 stamina and 2 magicka alts right now, and am just blowing through the level 1-50 zones.

Also, go to Cyrodiil and do the tutorial quest as soon as you reach level 10. This will unlock the skill Rapid Maneuver. You can cast it while riding your horse and it increases your speed by 40%. Unless you are used to using Rapid on a max speed horse, this will still feel really fast. I always have this on one of my bars when leveling.

If you ever get bored with leveling an alt, take him into Blackwater Blade. It really is a blast. Although I heard that everybody is unkillable in BWB now due to the 50% damage nerf, so you may need to wait until ZoS reduces the damage nerf for BWB.

4 VR14-15, 1 VR1 and a couple of lowbies here. Once you get through the first couple, it's hard.

Horses are the easy part (mine are all maxed). Morning coffee, cycle thru alts, train, do writs on those needed.

I don't play the alt I play the build. That's what makes it easier for me to play thru. Learning new setups, like my current sorcerer tank, are what keeps it interesting. You can also go the pure grind mentality from 3-50, I know people who do that, but you'll probably have to go back and get a few dozen skyshards to fill out the skill lines you've chosen.

I levelled 1 characters normally through questing my first character... that took a while.

Second character was through grinding, it's v11 at the moment that was a lot faster.

3rd character i'm just slowly levelling with my brother who got the game.

If you don't have the incentive to level multiple toons...then don't.

You seem to want to be classified as an Altoholic...but you can't carry yourself through the process like one. So stop trying to be one.

Man if ONLY there was some convenient way to train the horse by about 10 points a at a time instead of once a day. We need some kind of store that sells these types of things for people who don't want a slow horse.

Hmm we need some way to make something we've already maxed 3 times to go faster without paying for it hmm

Reason why I do it is to mix up my gameplay every now and than. Since there hasn't been new pve content for quite some time. Leveling another alt keeps game a little fresh. This Helps me not get bored of doing same content over and over the same way. Hopefully before I max all my alts (only have 2 alts that are not maxed) they give us some new content I can enjoy running over and over to farm gear or just try and make leaderboards etc. Also, I hate trying to gain Cp on a max toon. Might as well level another toon so i can gain xp and Cp at same time. Luckily I have tons of xp pots to burn through and can make more if needed definitely makes leveling easier. I pop xp pots like candy. Everytime I'm logged in I have xp pot active and pop them again when it runs out. Unless I'm just dicking around in rawkhall or organizing my bank/inventory. Another bonus for having more maxed alts is to be able to do vet pledge on each one and try and get more boss sets especially now that we have to farm v16 versions. Luckily I planned ahead and have been feeding my horses on all of them from the beginning. The last 2 alts I need to max level have max stats on all 3 stats with their horse. So I don't have to deal with slow horses again. Unlocking rapid maneuvers helps speed up travel time for getting to quest or collecting sky shards. I normally know what skills I'm gonna be using on the new alt I'm leveling so I just get enough skyshards for the amount I need. I already have crafting toons so don't need to waste skill points on crafting.

If you know what quest you need to progress story and unlock other areas so you can grind than move on to next grind spot. You can easily max a toon in a week. My last toon I maxed was done in 4 days. Just have to buckle down and do it. Having a lot of Cp to my disposal really helps speed up running through content on new alts.

If your happy with 1-2 maxed toons. It's not necessary to max all your alts. Not like you will be missing out on anything. I do enjoy having each role maxed out. Because if a friend or guildies are in search for a dps, tank or healer. I can swap toons and lend a hand.

Downside to so many toons maxed out is acquiring the best gear for each toon and making them gold. Which is expensive and time consuming if you have to farm for a gear item that you can't craft or buy. Luckily I have been playing since launch and have accumulated a large sum of gold and mats needed for improvement.

The whole point of Cadwell Silver and Gold was to get us to play through additional content with no logical reason to do it. Many many people hate these quests. Maybe because they feel tacked on, maybe because the break the feeling of playing a faction, maybe because 4th time through its boring. However ZOS has done its best to stop people creating new alts. They should do all they can to encourage people back through the 1-50 content (it is the best after-all) as it keeps people playing and paying.

I'm pretty sure I'll never level an alt.

I can't imagine having to find all those sky shards and lorebooks again. But on top of that, 1-50 would feel like a waste of time because any time spent playing ESO and NOT gaining CP is time where your character is sinking further beneath the surface
