Is a stamina NB dw/bow still viable after IC patch?

Being on console, I am curious about what to expect with my build come patch day. Will I still be able to enjoy the game using DW and Bow or will I have to hang up my NB for something else? I don't want to have him running around with a giant sword or a shield.

I would appreciate any comments from PC players running this type of build after the latest patch. Thanks.

i did not see any difference in increase nor decrease in damage on my duel wield and bow, but i did see an increase in damage using the longblade and 2 handed Axe.
im sorry, but it is, what it is.

Well if you didn't notice a difference, then maybe that is good enough.

    The good:
-You will have access to Vigor (assault rank 5 next patch). The only stamina based heal other then 2H rally. So this will help your build tremendously.
-Bow light attack's got a huge damage increase.
-Grim Power only require's 4 light/heavy attack's to proc Spectral Bow.

    The bad:
-Roll dodge nerf. Each roll cost's 33% more and reset's after 4 second's.
-The 30% stamina passive nightblade's get will be changed to 15% stamina/health/magicka recovery. (Not really that big of deal)
    .
    .
    .
The only problem running dw/bow, you will not have a source of major brutality(20% increased damage) unless you use potion's.

I have made many thread's regarding dw/bow not having access to major brutality. Many people like yourself use that combo and fall short. Zos gave Hidden Blade Major Brutality but you probably won't use it since you use a bow. It's a shame really.

I'm a console player but i know quiet a bit of what to expect next patch. I'm personally going to be using DW/2H. I will only use 2H (big sword) for Rally to get the damage buff. It's immersion breaking for me but it's almost mandatory for stamina nightblade's in my opinion.
    .
    .
    .
pm me if you have any question's, i play only a stamina nightblade.

    @GreenSoup2HoT

Thanks for your insight. I currently use panacea of weapon power potions for my boss fights. I agree with you about using 2H for NB, but might give it a try at some point if I am not satisfied with the bow/grim focus combo. Speaking of which, what morph would you recommend? I am thinking maybe relentless focus. Will that morph still add stamina regen?

why don't you just use the NB aoe Siphon ability to buff 20%? never understood why people say NB cant major dmg buff. I just slap it on my bow skill bar and pop it every 20 seconds when I reapply poison injection and switch back to my DW.

You need to hit someone with it to activate the damage boost. Unlike rally you have to use it from stealth and loose out on your stealth multiplier on a low damage ability. It is defiantly a good ability but if have dw, steel tornado will be far superior.

Sap Essence is really only good for magicka nb tank's. Power extraction is alright to use before Steel Tornado but you don't have the room to use 2 AoE's usually. Which is why ill be running rally so i can use any ability i want with major brutality proc'd from stealth.

There are probably build's that utilize Power Extraction and Steel Tornado but it's pretty rare to see after Power extraction got changed. It used to scale your next ability's damage by the number of enemy's hit instead of giving you major brutality. So it's rarely used now. They did buff Drain power in update 1.7 by 20% but this really only help's SAP nb tank's.
    DRAIN POWER
    Cast Time Instant
    Target Area
    Radius 8 meters
    Cost X Magicka

Siphon the vigor from your enemies' blood, dealing X Magic Damage to all nearby enemies.
If an enemy is hit, you gain Major Brutality, increasing Weapon Damage by 20% for 17 seconds.

I started out as DW but switched to 2H. I don't really know why people get so attached to DW. Probably the crit with daggers. Is it the extra set piece? Or just that it looks pretty killer? I understand Steel Tornado dominates in PVE, but I dont find it that effective in PVP. If I am ever in a situation where I am surrounded by more than two enemy players I am usually going to die as a NB regardless of Steel Tornado. I have found that I do better by taking opponents down one at a time than trying to spam ST.

Momentum/Rally is just too valuable. Even if its the only 2H ability you use its worth it IMO. From stealth I pop Rally and Relentless Focus giving Major and Minor Brutality + 10%Stam regen, then rip off big hit from stealth. I'm not gonna run up in stealth and blow my cover with Sap Essence hitting for like 1k and losing stealth. Same with Hidden Blade, you need to hit first before you get the buff.

I have alchemy maxed with weapon power potions available, but mainly use them before/during boss fights in dungeon's because it just doesn't seem cost effective to burn one before every fight in PVP.

I am still debating what I will ultimately keep on my 2nd Bar (probably bow or 1H1S), but I just feel like 2H will always be on one for this reason.

If anyone knows of any other way to get Major Brutality without breaking stealth I would love to hear it, because it would completely change my mind. But I'm pretty sure this is not possible.

    Wood Elf Stam NB (PVP)
    Redguard Stam Sorc (PVP)
    Altmer NB (DPS)
    Imperial DK (Tank)
    Redguard DK (DPS)
    Altmer Templar (Healer)

I should have been more clear about where I play. I only do PvE so yes I depend on Steel Tornado a lot when I am in the middle of a mob. Yes I am attached to dw because, in my eyes, it fits with my character better than a 2h weapon, or a sword and shield. Or in your words... "Pretty". I guess I got caught up in the whole "play how you want".

I have only been to the PvP zone a few times for sky shards, so I don't know anything about that playstyle. The time I did encounter an enemy play, I panicked and dropped a shooting star on him, cloaked, broke line of sight and escaped. So yeah, total PvE player here . LOL

I'm not completely opposed to putting points into 2h for the times I do venture into PvP for the PvE stuff, but I mainly want to preserve as much as I can for my PvE activities with the new patch. That is why I was asking for advice here.

    Thanks for your input.
