Suggestion on NPC's sending emails.

This is not an idea I came up with myself as I have experienced in another MMO but it really expanded the game experience. I got emails from NPC's that I defeated, or threats from family of the NPC's I killed. It really make us players go "WTH?" and some even reported it to the moderators as there were so many roleplayers that it made some of us think it was another player sending such emails (hahaha). Some would send a threat, some would send a reward as token of appreciation and some would request help and invite us to place X to start another quest. Now in my opinion that really would be a great feature, no clue what it would take to implement it and if the community feels for it but feel free to add ideas or burn the suggestion to the ground B)

For players into more immersion, this is a nice feature. I know I like it in the games I play that have it.

No idea how they should implement it but i would like it if they did.

    Picture you getting an email

    Hey you
    You killed my wife/mother(or something)
Come to place X for retribution or something

    Would be nice

In Skyrim you had a courier running towards you and gave you a letter from "unknown sender". In ESO you also have NPC"s running towards you but only triggered in certain areas. I like the couriers too as then you are certain you not get threatened by another player but the email system seems more easy and might give the moderators something to laugh as well if people actually report on an NPC. lol

I actually don't care for the fact that our hirelings send us emails... the email system should be used exclusively as ZOS to player and player to player communications.

I have a pretty robust courier concept for ESO... check it out here:

That was a pretty extensive read but personally your suggestion would not make me feel more involved in the stories unfolding. The whole idea was to make the game experience more "lively" by receiving emails after certain quests, they can be timed and the system for it already seems to be in place as the "hirelings" you mentioned already do this. But thanks for your input :)

I realized I didn't actually comment on your suggestion. I just got hung up on the "email" part. I actually really love your idea. I would love for quests to have a farther reaching impact than the immediate quest. Perhaps a duke sends for our help or a farmer we saved sends us his warmest thanks with a selection of vegetables from his crops.

One way they could achieve this is to have our hirelings send us messages that request our help. If we go to where they lead us, we can complete a quest or three with them/for them/to save them. It would sort of achieve what you're thinking, just the other way around.

I wonder how the whole dark brotherhood thing is going to be handled...

On the other hand...if they know where to send the mail, they also know where to find you to hunt you down.

But it's email! And all adventures in Tamriel use isp masks!

Yes, "email" might be a poor choice of wording my side as it is actually called mail in ESO, no computers in Tamriel right? I just thought it would be the most simple way to add a little bit to existing quests as well a possibility to add some new adventures without the need of creating new zones.

Questing through the factions made it most worth to me when some mysteries were involved as well humor. Without spoiling the stories for others that still have to do those, I have encountered some hillaric moments and I wish there would been some more of those.

Then again this suggestion might not add much game experience to the biggest part of the community as I get the feel that the focus on the (forum) community is mainly on gaining XP by grinding, rather than to be sent all over Tamriel in order to unrafle some (dark) mystery. Click click click through the stories and just dealing damage.

But if Zenimax would like to take the focus on grinding for trophies away, then quests by mail might be the way to do it. The rewards are already there (trophies) and might be a little more statisfying if there is a quest around them rather than an X,X% of chance that it would drop from mob Y.

I like this idea and it wouldn't seem too hard to implement. Also, free stuff is good.
