Since its been 6 months since the last patch, I think many of us have become too comfortable with what constituted 'skill' in 1.6
That cheese is gone.
Complaining that 1vx isn't possible and opportunity for a small group to beat a large group doesn't exist -two days into the patch?
Maybe if in a few weeks/months we still don't have effective strategies I'd agree.
The sooner you accept that the old cheese is gone, the sooner you can start enjoying the new cheese.
Here's some observations about what I see as opportunities for skilled play now that burst/bomb groups are 37.5% less effective:
Training a sweeper in to a large group and cleaning up.
Running 'agressive war horn' if you didn't before.
Tighten up your timing on burst. The potential is still there - you just need more of it.
Hit and run tactics - movement through imperial city is perilous - use that to your advantage (a bigger group is more likely to agro something they shouldn't)
Cordinated focus fire of individual target (kill the healers)
Actually, I think there are more opportunities now to really make tactical play more relevant.
When you could just stack 4-8 pbaoes and run over/through any healing it made things like target prioritzation pointless.
The main point is, every patch people complain about their 'skill' no longer being a factor - when the game changes, if you are falling back on that old 'skill' the harder it is to learn/adapt to the new optimal 'skillful' strategy.
