Hapless Healer

Hello ESO pro's!

I'm relatively new to the game (highest level I have is a 17 templar) and I love playing healers in MMO's.

I was wondering if you guys can tell me what I'm doing wrong as a restoration staff templar healer focused on Magicka.

I find it very hard to go up against more than two enemies at once, and while my damage isn't terrible, I always get the crap kicked out of me (using light armour). Is there anything you can recommend for me to do, whether it's a playstyle change, a specific build, etc, that will make staying alive in general PvE much easier?

Right now I'm playing my templar as a ranged caster/healer with Reflective Light being my main dps spam skill

that could be why use the jabs it is in the ardent spear skill line then morph it to redial sweep it is a frontal aoe that heals you and can deal some massive damage while healing as long as the enemies are in front of you. also make sure you have rushed ceremony and morph it to breath of life it is a great heal. I also use a destruction staff to have more damage output. the last skill in the destro skill line is an aoe. that can be useful later in game especially like how I have it morphed it reduces max hp so that's a plus

Indestructible determination that is incorruptible from the other side a terror to behold annihilation will be unavoidable every broken enemy will know that their opponent had to be invincible. Take a last look around while you're alive I'm an indestructible master of war!!

Scrap the resto staff as your main weapon. If you want to continue levelling it (which you do) keep it on your second bar and swap to it when handing it quests. If you want to be full resto (although learning destruction would be helpful) trying using DPS-type Templar abilities while on your own. To level up healing abilities, put them on your back bar, and then change to that bar when handing in quests ;) That was you can level up DPS type skills to help you solo, but also level up the healing skills you will use a lot more when in groups.

That's my thoughts at least. Pretty much opinion, although I myself do a run a Healer Templar and levelling like that was a great way to ensure I could fend mobs off on my own, but also have the skills I needed in healing for group content.

    (The jabs skill is FANTASTIC)

[EDIT] Oh, and when levelling, you MIGHT want to try out one heavy and one medium piece of armor. Not only will this give you a bit more armor, but it will level those armor skill lines up so that once your higher level (and have the skill points to spare) you can throw some of those passives on. Of course, you may find your magicka weaker than normal, if you do, just throw on all light armor for group runs, or just try both ways and see what works for you.

You didnt say it, so I am gonna start with.. put another weapon in your second bar, so you can use heal skills on one bar and damage skills on the other. They gave you weapon swap at 15, so you could have 10 skills and 2 ultis avail all the time. By the time I got well into VR, I had all weapon skill lines in the 50s, while focusing on healing. Destro staff is what my baby temp has to offset her healing stick.

Oh, and, at low levels, use 3 light, 2 medium, 2 heavy armor. It will level up those armor skills while your light armor passives are pretty weak. You want them at 50 so you can swap out to different armor styles/sets if you need to. And, look into crafted sets instead of white drops. The set passives rule over dropped or vendor gear.

Power level to CP160 in a week:
Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

Oh, and do you know what Mundus Stones are? If not, you may want to google that right now and see if you can reach any that would be helpful to you :) You probably can't get to them all quite yet, but anything is better than nothing ;)

Lolz.. there is quite a difference between this low level who needs help and those guys.

Oh, and my DK VR15 main is an Argonian healer hybrid build, .Which means I stink but I still make it work. Want some Igneous Shields to soften the blows from the face smash?
