Hi guys,

did you figure out what procs now the surge healing.

Patch notes says DOTs are not doing it anymore and new Addons yesterday I could not quite figure out.

For ex Ring of Fire is not doing it but what about Liquid Lightning, Boundless Storm, Force Pulse?

Edit: One thing I forgot the ask does the heavy attack from the Energy Overload heals from surge?

A side note, I have no idea why but I have a feeling that my Magicka management became better but I have no idea why, I don't see anything in the note that can effect our Magicka management.

Most people say their magicka/stamina management got somewhat worse. Magicka/Stamina builds. For me its roughly the same.

if you aren't a High Elf? then maybe jewlery regen enchants got quite a large buff? (slightly VR level dependant)

The heal effect from Power Surge has a 100 ms cooldown which means that you only get 1 heal per AOE no matter how many enemies you hit with crits. It does not heal for DOT crits which is actually a nerf combined with the shorter 100 ms cooldown, this used to be 250 ms and DOTs were preventing heals from heavy hitters.

Liquid Lighting and Boundless Storm are considered DOTs. You apply the ability and do damage every x seconds (Damage Over Time). Overload heavy attacks are AOE damage so you can get a heal per damage tick if you crit. Overload light attacks would be more effective to get heals because the crit damage is very high (easily 25k at v14 which provide 10k heals).

Regen jewelry enchants have been buffed by 150% so that might be the cause of your improved sustain.

Console(XBOX) has not got the new patch yet, but I find this interesting. My AOE rotation is Crit surge/boundless storm/Elemental ring/Lighting flood. I get healed from this rotation frequently and these are all dots. I wonder what the difference is between Console and PC is?? Does the patch change the this?

Also to the cool down comment I am also not sure it is 100ms because I have been healed back to back before in my single target rotation. I will have to test this further, it may have just appeared to be this way because I was not timing it.

I did some more testing of healing aspect last night and could not reproduce a back to back heal. I did notice that it procs a lot however. The console is a little weird because when Cfrags procs the health bar will highlight and it does the same thing when the heal procs as well so I am sure what I was seeing was Cfrags and heal proc back to back and not the heal back to back.

I am going to go back and re-test the AOE section. I know that boundless storm by itself procs heals.I will see if the others do as well.

Single target effects that aren't DoT's, basically.

Initial hit of Elemental Ring should count, follow up ticks do not.

No liquid lightning, no Boundless Storm - both DoTs.

Force Shock and morphs are single target, so they will proc. Frags, Destro Touch, etc.

Anything that does not produce X damage over Y time should have the change to proc it (and this is a good thing), as your single target effects are generally going to hit harder than your DoTs will.

What does not make sense is the 100 ms ICD reduction none of the attacks that mentioned can be executed in 100 ms interval, such ICD change will benefit more damage over time effects, so it is little bit confusing.

It's a classic double fix. Do both 100ms and no DoTs, rather than just one. Why zos cannot make one change and test it I'm not sure. But maybe they did just test the cool down change alone and found it didn't solve the issue? As they haven't said anything we have no idea.

tho flurry, even tho being a physical damage ability, counts as a dot... so dont use that as a source of healing in IC

@dsalter, how did you determine this? They should count as separate individual attacks in sequence.

I'm not doubting you, it's just very odd.

Lots of abilities won't heal past the initial hit now, or at all...
Dw: Flurry, Twin strikes (much of its damage is DoT), Blade cloak
Bow: Poison arrow (DoT component) +morphs, Volley (aoe), Acid spray.
Lightning splash, lightning form, ice comet and all axes.

    There are probably more.
